ok i was wondering how to cook the egg whites? with or without oil? wit or without oil? and how many eggs do you guys usually use? and can u explain what is so bad about the egg yolk? thanks hehe

the yolks are good for you. full of nutrients! a couple a day is fine.
dietary cholesterol has been proven to have no effects on blood cholesterol.
I usually have 8egg whites or so. with a yolk.
I whip mine up and cook them in a pan very lightly greased with coconut oil

you eat 8 full eggs? including yolk? isnt that too much ?

and is it bad using olive oil?

no 8 egg whites with 1 yolk.
you could lightly grease your pan with olive oil (not coat it and drench it). and if you use olive oil, cook them slowly at a moderate heat, or else the olive oil will turn to trans fatty acids at high heats. coconut oil is more stable and safer for cooking.

is it ok to put a lil bit of salt and ketchup on ur eggs? and is it ok to scramble em>?
Posted by: ugination87
and then isnt it kind of wastefull if u use 8 eggs and throw away 7 of the 8 yolk away? and one more... why do you use 8 eggs?

I place them in an microwave egg cooker for 20-30 seconds or boil them.. or sometimes I use PAM

More eggs = More protein. If you dont like wasting the yolks, then check out www.lanaseggwhites.com I personally dont mind wasting the yolks. Eggs are cheap.

I cook my egg whites in a bowl sprayed with pam, (in the microwave) and mixed in a T of coco. Top that off with a T of natty pb and some splenda! Jens favorite!!!

You can scramble them. Don't use high heat, though, or they'll get mighty rubbery. Salt should be fine, unless you're restricting sodium for some reason (precomp for instance). Ketchup has sugar in it, not much but some. I wouldn't, but it's up to you. Salsa is very good in scrambled whites. So are those salt-free herb blends. Or if you prefer a sweet dish, the Splenda-flavoured syrups (Da Vinci, e.g.) can be poured over them (in moderation of course).
I also like spinach, garlic and mushrooms, but then my philosophy is "a healthy diet -- even a restrictive diet -- can still be tasty." Other possibilities: if you are eating them with carbs, you can put them in a blender with your serving of oats (dry) and some flavouring (Splenda, a bit of Butter Buds, maybe some vanilla or cinnamon) and cook them up as a sort of pancake.
As for why atherjen has 8 eggs/whites, I would assume that's what adds up to her desired serving of protein grams. You would need to do your own math...

if i'm going to eat them when i make 'em i'll scramble or cook them like an omlet.
but if i'm cooking ahead to eat them later (this is usually the case) i'll hard boil them.
