Since camaro's last thread gave me such a boner, i um, mean um, thrill, i decided to do this thread since its an arguement me and my boys have all the time.

So, who's your All-NBA All-Time starting 5? i think this is a no-brainer (this is the ONLY thing in sports me and my boys can agree on). And who would fill out the rest of your 12 man roster?

Starting 5......
PG- Magic Johnson (w/MJ and Bird, rounds out the top 3 players in history)
G- Michael Jordan (nuff said)
SF- Larry Bird
PF- Wilt Chamberlain
C- Shaquille O'Neal (all my friends agree Shaq is the #1 center, so i had to put Wilt at PF)

that was the easy part. i don't think you can possibly substitute any player in that starting 5, but should be interesting to get some different opinions.

Now comes the tough part.......
This was so tough, but Here's the other players i'd put on, in no particular order....

Lou Alcindor
Julius Erving
Jerry West
Oscar Robertson
Bill Russell
John Havelchick
and i really don't know the 12th pick.....could be a boatload of guys...
Karl Malone
Isaih Thomas
Elgin Baylor
Scottie Pippen
Willis Reed
Bob Cousy
Kobe Bryant

Are we going with past performance or can we go with potential??

Posted by: camarosuper6

Id just say go with past performance in their prime. If I were rating by potential I would have included Sampson, and Robinson.

WOW, you don't even have Shaq on your squad?

i put Wilt as PF, cuz he's kinda skinny, and Shaq as my starting center........no one pushed around The Big Aristotle

I know Shaq is super dominant, but he is dominant during a time where finding another good center is scarce. He came in the league during a time where NBA centers where probably the most dominant figures in the league at the time, and then when Shaq hit HIS prime, all the older dominant ones were way past theirs. That is one of the reasons he is so dominant, not to take anything away from him, but he wouldnt be AS domiant if he were playing in say... 1994 or 1995.

Wilt is the best center ever, Kareem the second and IMO Hakeem the third. Shaq is just big and strong, not much else to him, all those other guys were big, strong as well, and had many other talents that seperate them IMO from Shaq.

BTW.. notice how Yao Ming is getting the best of Shaq?? Thats cuz Shaq isnt used to playing against someone nearly as big as him. If Shaq played against Wilt, I think it would be great, but Shaq wouldnt know what to do with a guy as dominant as him. Shaq happens to be in his prime when NBA centers are far a few.
