Ok, I want some opinions out there.
I went to Albertsons today and it is really hard to justify the EggBeaters over the storebrand when the price difference is almost $3.00.
The only difference I could tell via the label is in slightly different sub-ingredients (or minor ingredients). All other nutrional amounts were exactly the same.
Am I missing something here??

I just buy carton egg whites. egg beater are FAR too pricy.

...and i just buy regular eggs (and use the # of yolks i want) b/c they're so much cheaper. i always think the egg beaters would be convenient and all but when i go to buy them - i end up balking at the price.

I saw Ener-G Egg Replacer on the internet, is it any good ?

The carton product is just so much more convenient at work. And I think if you were to get the same amount of egg whites as in one of those large cartons of eggbeaters you would have to go through at least 3 dozen if not more.

Same here. Can't get myself to spend that much money on egg whites.

How big is the carton?
If I recall the ones around here, they are equivelant to 4 eggs.

16eggwhites(carton) here is 2.10$. a dozen eggs is 2.29 (thats 12 egg whites).
savings to me.
I also buy the organic doz eggs. but only use 1 at a time to eat the yolk! so I throw one in my egg whites.
btw... thats Canadian money!

no, I was referring to the 32 oz one.

yeah, but when egg beaters says 4 eggs they mean white and yolk so volume-wise 4 whole eggs = how many egg whites? 8?

go to costco they have egg starters, it's 6 packs of 8 egg equivalents, so thats 48 eggs for like 6 or 7 bucks,

Eggs still are cheaper to me.
I can get a dozen eggs for 75 cents. I still don't see the cost savings.

1 serving of egg starter= 6 grams of protein, 1 egg white = 3 grams of protein
6 grams x 48 servings = 288 grams protein at 6 dollars
288 grams protein/3 grams per egg white( extra large= 96 eggs
96/12= 8
8 x .75 = 6 dollars
equal pricing, so i guess the difference lies in the taste, egg beaters taste good like real scrambled eggs, while egg whites are a little bland. And dang you get eggs pretty cheap even i can't get real eggs for that price.
and if you didn't guess i am very bored right now

Depending on where you live and availability of Costco, their "Egg Starters" are very reasonable.

75 pennies? 3 quarters?? damnnnn canada sucks!!

I get my eggs free and farm fresh. Egg Beaters are a time saver though so I keep a few on hand. I like boiled egg whites in my tuna.

Blah, there's no difference between those egg substitutes in a carton. I prefer real eggs myself and just separating the yolk.

A while ago mudge posted a thread where they were selling 10lbs of egg whites for a decent price. You order online and they will ship them to your door step. My wife gets pissed when she sees like 7 egg yolks sitting in the trash. Its even hard for me to throw them away. Shit we all work so hard at our job just to throw away food. I remember when you could get a dozen eggs for 99cents. Has anyone notice over the last couple of year when you leave the grocery store there is like 5 bags and the bill was over a 100bucks. Before a 100bucks could get you a whole cart of food. That life though.

I remember trying to explain to my dad why it was better, and cheaper to buy regular eggs and just separate the whites from the yolks. He is a fan of EggBeaters, and still thinks you are wasting food by throwing the yolks away.

my parents yelled at me for scrapping the egg yolks too... i would feed them to my dog, but i dont have one right now. I just pretend im throwing them in now, and end up throwing then down the sink.
