I would recommend a cheat MEAL, not a whole day. Maybe once every 2 weeks, or once a week.

Lol, Mayo just had 3 beers, a burger, and steak fries. You didn't hear that from me. As for me, I had a shrimp Caesar salad....boring.

What if you ate enough food in this one meal to last a normal person a whole day heh!

I had a massive cheat one day and had 4 pancakes,4 eggs, bunch of ham, 2 monster cheeseburgers w/ extra mushroom gravy, fries, coleslaw, apple pie, and ice cream. All in one sitting with room to spare. I felt so bad after this yet so satisfied and I have had no desire to cheat since. Heh

yeah don't go overboard on an all day binge, maybe one meal, but even if you go for a cheat meal make it a healthier cheat, such as choosing the chicken sandwich over the burger, after you start eating real clean for awhile bad foods really don't seem that appetizing to you anymore, i can't even eat pizza anymore, just the feeling of the greeze on my lips kinda makes me sick, sam goes for most fast food too

just do better then my diet in high school, my favorite daily lunch were a bag of reeces pieces and a bag of doritos, if i was feelin saucy it was some oatmeal pies, nutty bars, and mini donuts, i wish mom would have made me eat well back then but oh well, live and learn

If you have any tendencys for disordered eating, cheat days may not be the best idea. It can lead to a binge like behaviour which will be hard to turn around

this is some of the best advice ive seen, wish I would have been told this before embarking on a ckd that turned me into a binge eater. Ill never be the same around carbs again

my next cheat meal will be a small detour bar for one of my snack meals of the day.. that's if I follow my plan and not cheat till next Thursday!

That is good advice Jenny! I would actually tell anyone NOT to start dieting...that was my downfall.

But...I have a "free day" every Sat. I am able to be strict during the week and on Sat, I can have a drink or two and not worry about my food. By not worry, I don't mean binge, I just mean not measure, not write down.

I'm able to jump right back on in on Sunday!

I had a cheat chocolate day on sunday. You know, easter.

I have had a cheat day every week since nov. 2002. It's not an all day feast but i just don't worry about what I eat , how much i eat or when I eat.

You know what sucks? The fact that a new health food store opened down the road and that they gave me a free U-Turn and two free Detours with my 5 pound jug of Optimum yesterday. Now I hear them calling my name from my cupboard...must....resist...Snickers-tasting....
protein...bars...

Damn you Next Proteins. I should've just told them to not give me the free gifts.

Peace.

DOH! Busted... not only was it a burger... IT WAS CHEESEBURGER!!! and 3 amstel lights, and steak fries and i ate every single one on my plate... so f'n good... I had been doing so good with my diet too... oh well... I'm still smiling after thinking about this meal...

If you do decide to have a cheat day just watch it at first. A lot of people can eat enough in one day to compensate for their calorie deficiency through the week which wouldn't result in any weight loss. If your just starting, I'd stick with a cheat meal (normal meal- not like DeadBolt's- LOL!!).

Good Luck!

After having disordered eating for over 6 years, I was thinking about starting to incorporate cheat meals so that I wouldn't feel like such an outsider...I thought it might help to have "permission" to eat something "bad" because then I would be less likely to feel guilty and purge later. Also, I haven't been out to eat with friends or family (other than watching them eat or getting a plain - no dressing- salad or sashimi which fits into my meal plan) and I haven't shared a normal home-made meal with people during this time. Sometimes I forget what "normal" food tastes like. I don't really crave it much but I do get curious. It would be nice to not think about good/bad and just appreciate sharing food and time with others. I think even just a few bites of something would satisfy the curiousity...and as long as I remained aware of my hunger/fullness I don't think bingeing would be a problem. Maybe for those who have a problem with this, eating the cheat meal with others would help stay grounded and not get lost in the food.

While cutting which is what I am doing now I have a cheat meal. Like stated above a a day of cheating can set you back a week if not more. Now when I bulk I frankly do not care how much I gorge into on my cheat day. I eat whatever I want. Mayo's cheat sound like mine on a bulk. They are probably worse.
