how much should I take a day of this. I'm thinking about 300mg throughout the day. My carb intake is about 300g per day.
Thanks!!

Hope this helps.
(On a 200 milligrams capsule) We recommend taking 200 milligrams (1 capsule) 3 times daily with meals. Research has shown that 200 milligrams increases blood levels of ALA the same as 600 milligrams, so there is no need to take more than 200 milligrams at any one time.

Also 600 milligrams daily has been shown to be just as effective at muscle glucose uptake as 1200 milligrams per day so therefore there appears to be no need to take more than 600 milligrams per day.

exactly what does this stuff do?

It is considered a "carb blocker," diabetics use it. It is also used in liver treatments.

Make sure you get R-ALA and not S-ALA or plain old ALA (which is often a racemix of both).

Alpha Lipoic Acid

I still have almost a full bottle of r-ala. For some reason it made me dizzy. When I would get up from sitting down I would get a dizzy spell. Dont know why either.

so if my diet is on order would there be any benifits of taking this

I don't notice any benefit from ALA to R-ALA except the ALA is cheaper but for me works just as good.

how much are you taking at a time? and how many carbs per meal?
overdosing on ALA leads to hypoglycemic symptoms(tired, groggy feeling)

1 200mg tab three times a day with meal. I dont always take it with carbs. At least two meal have carbs when I take them.

hmmm I would suggest only taking them with carb meals and see how that goes.

If you notice the symptoms of hypoglycemia, sit down and drink a cup of milk or fruit juice. You may want to lower your ALA dosage or use it selectively with carbs.

possibly the best shot is to use it along with complex carbs!
