only 1 lb?

Posted by: AKILLY

yes but it's like $10 a pound, some of there stuff are $7 a lb...

I pay $3.33 a pound for whey. If you are looking at other proteins like a casein then its usually cheaper than retail, where I often find $10 a pound.

Use proteincustomizer

1Fast400 There stuff is expensive. Protein is protein, I was just woundering if it would be better to take a mixture of Proteins like whey Isolate and micellar casein protein. I guess that's what I want to find out.

protein is most definetly not protein when it comes to supplements. how a protein supplement is manufactured makes all the difference in the world...

So how would you actually know if it's manufactured right?

depends when you plan to take it, if you want a protein for post work-out a whey isolate is the best choice, if you want one to use before bed than a mix of whey, casein, egg would be ideal.

why?

becuase whey isolate is absorbed the fastest which means that the amino acids get into your blood very quickly and are available for your body to use to for anabolism.

at night you want a protein blend so it will take your body several hours to break it all down, thus you have a steady stream of aminos entering the blood for several hours.

So would it be smart to take both then? So if I wanted a protein supplement for after working out I would be better to with a Isolate protein supplement. Next question is would it be better to take a protein supplement that has 50 gs of protein like Natures best...http://www.advantagesupplements.com/bnatbeslowca.html

or supplements with a smaller dosage of protein like VP2's http://www.ast-ss.com/Products/Produ....asp?ProdID=26

thanks for your help guys!

that is an individual thing based on your protein requirements, and either way you can modify the dose, it's just powder.

I shoot for 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight spread acrossed 7 feeding, so for me that is about 285grams per day, or 40 grams per feeding.

and yes use both, get a whey isolate www.allthewhey.com for post work-out, and a blend for any other time during the day, or for before bed.

When you say post work-out you mean after your done working out right? So you take this. and have gained lean mucle mass right? I have read about casein that is suppose to help you lose some body fat, I was told to find a supplement with this in it to help me lose some body fat, is this true?

Sometimes its a smell, sometimes it might be a taste. It depends on the type of protein, different manufacturing processes with proteins based on milk or even egg can denature the protein itself.

Methods of seperating lactose from milk can make a big difference.

I posted some tidbits from Dan Duchaine on how amino acid tabs are made and mostly "worthless."

Protein takes a slight amount of energy to utilize/metabolise but I would not say protein burns bodyfat.

purchase only from quality protein manufactures and ask for a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from an independant test lab...the COA tells you how the product tested against the manufactures label claim...

Posted by: OmarJackson

both optimum nutrition and allthewhey meet label claims, i believe.

Posted by: richirich_99

isnt GNC protein part of optimum nutrition? Thats what i have heard at least.

Posted by: LAM

yes...Optimum does manufacture protein powders for GNC

Posted by: richirich_99
