Not that I believe this is really their swim team...but....

Posted by: I Are Baboon

NICE!

But those chicks do not have the bodies of swimmers.

Posted by: Pepper

but they have nice bodies. God bless Texas.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

No doubt!

Posted by: Rob_NC

Texas Tech doesn't have a swim team.

Bobby Knight in a Speedo?

Posted by: Rob_NC

Ewww,,,,

speaking of Night, Indiana fuqed up by letting him go. He's done well with TT.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Texas Tech was never a ranked team before Bobby Knight got there.

Sure Knight is grumpy, mean, and a pain in the ass, but I've always liked him. His anger is funny to watch.

Posted by: Rob_NC

I was a HUGE IU fan when he was there. Knight is an awesome coach.

I still can't stand Texas Tech for the absolute ass-kicking they gave Clemson in the Tangerine Bowl two years ago. I hold that grudge for a long time....i still despise Syracuse for the same reason and that was 10 years ago.

Posted by: Rob_NC

Damn, I hate to piss you off.

Well now I know why you hate the St Lous Rams so much. It's the constant beatings they hand the Seahawks.

Well, there is some truth to that....whatever team Seattle (or Clemson, for that matter) is playing is my most hated team....i usually get over it though. For example, I don't hate the Packers...but I did during that playoff game.

Seattle is going to be GOOD this year. Very good. Wait and see!

On a more serious note, I find it interesting that you can judge their intelligence by their looks. Do you think that is a fair test?

By that test, I am a genious, and as you can tell...I am not!

OD, don't be a hater.

If you look closely, the "T" was photoshopped into the pic.

IAB, thats a bit harsh - don't judge. It is considered collegiate and appropriate to point out the flaws of a rival college.

Come now Pepper. Do you think it was fair to exploit women with photos like that? Shame Shame Shame. And no, you can’t be a genius since you can’t even spell “genious”[sp] properly. So the test is clearly flawed.

Also, you fell headfirst into my “assumption” trap – not like the Pepper I use to know. You sure you are really Pepper and not just someone taking his account after he was banned for being too conservative? By the way, I happen to think that all Texas Tech graduates irrespective of sex are “dumb” and look the same in a rival inter-collegiate sort of way. Everyone knows you can get a TT diploma off the toilet tissue roll in any bath room on campus. So lighten up and be careful of assumptions before ye judge.

VMI (undergraduate degree)

Just curious why you are saying everybody who got a degree from tech is dumb. I have read a bunch of your posts and have great respect for you but this is a bit harsh for you. I am down for some inter collegiate smack talk but you went to VMI. So far away...I didn't even know what VMI was until I looked on the internet. Why do you hate tech so much. Too many good looking ladies?

I also saw your edit. undergrad. Where did you get your Masters? By the way you are talking smack, you sound like you went to ut or a&m.

Oh settle down. It's all in fun man. We always took our collegiate rivalries very seriously. It's so hard to convey emotional context in electronic forums. We are all male and all military (but it was forced to go coed after I left) and had a lot of fun. We were about as hard core as you could get with respect to academics, physical, sports, achievement, honor etc. Everyhone had to be in a sport and there was extreme demands put on us on a regular basis. I won't discuss some of what we went through on an open forum though.

It's all good bro. I figured you didn't have any ladies at your school hence the bitterness towards tech.

Thanks for not sharing your VMI practices. All males....Sounds fun.

I never knew that tech was a rival of VMI.

I guess I found the right roll of toilet paper!

Thank you sir may I have another

No, not bitter BB - as I have said a few times – I was teasing.

No we did not really have a true rival since any rival of A&M was really a friend of ours. Our true rivals were those colleges that mostly had a military alignment or the academies. TT has a significant military contribution in the early 50's but not as much as A&M which was modeled more after VMI. So we never really worried much about you guys. A&M on the other hand was a respected foe since they were much like us but then whimped out and went coed (decades before we did) and offered traditional non-military civilian degree programs as well. Like the academies we wore full high collar tunics, and formal military dress daily and had military instructors (Virginia Militia) and professional military instruction from regular army, navy, marine, airforce and even some special ops. for summer assignments. It was an amazing culture and the true rivalries go back over 100 years. In fact the current intercollegiate football tradition was started due to VMI & West Point hosting the first ever ad-hoc football competition in the 1930's (I believe it was in that time frame). Then it took of by word of mouth and then the whole college football thing was born. At any rate it was one of those places you wanted to be from rather than to be at because it was "hell" while you were there. There was definitely abuse and hazing but this was all part of the experience. Back when I was attending most classes lost a full 2/3's of the original matriculating class by graduation. People just dropped out or failed out because it was so extreme and demanding mentally and physically. There was also the honor system which was unique and required you to constantly turn yourself in for minor infractions or remind your roommates to do the same or face a special court inquiry. Serious infractions resulted in full honor dismissals at 2-3 AM in the morning and a formal reading of charges in front of the entire corps. A guilty person was literally "drummed out" with an eerie cadence that required us all to get out of bed and witness the event (which pissed us off because we needed every minute of the 6 hrs if allotted sleep to keep our energy levels up). The corps literally turned their back on the disgraced individuals and they would be led away – never to be seen again under full military escort and stripped of their uniform. Such had their names permanently removed from all records as if they never existed and their names were never spoken again. You would think it was not exactly a place that a lot of people these days would go to or make it in. But funny enough attendance is up very high at max levels now since people are looking for a greater challenge over the traditional state systems. They also did not believe in any grade curve. If the whole class failed due to a hard-ass instructor – the whole class failed and your grades were toast. No petitions, no whining just suck it up and get better.

Anyway I digress and did not mean to hijack this thread. If interested in more info just PM me and I’ll tell you more.

Regular universities with large ROTC programs that consider themselves to be special when they are really no different than any other school that offers ROTC:

VMI, Texas A&M, VA Tech, Vanderbilt, Norwich, North Georgia College.

As a graduate of the University of Texas, former ROTC dude and long-time service member, I saw/see this first hand.

As far as Texas Tech goes, I have known all about their world-class women since I competed in high school regional track meets there in the late 70s.

austinite, you forgot to mention citadel.

But for the record VMI & Citadel are much different than what you are saying in your generalization. These two schools live eat and breath military, adedemics, discipline, honor/responsibility and physical conditioning 24 hrs a day. West Point, Anapolis and the Air Force academy essentially sold out about 25 years ago to certain political pressures and are more like the thing you are talking about - large universities with large wussized ROTC programs and watered down standards.

VMI & Citadel are probably the only 2 remaining institutions with any surviving lineage to the more elite "old school" combined standards in academic, physical, military and honor/character based education in this country.

What country is UofT in Mexico?
