Identifying Ketosis?

I don't know if this is bogus or anything but I've heard from some of my other buddies that are somewhat into body building saying that you can identify that your body is in ketosis and is using bodyfat as its source of energy is by funky smelling breath even after you've brushed?

I don't know if this is true or not but it sounded sort of bogus to me so I wanted to be sure.

yes, it can be an indication of mild ketosis...

you can purchase Keto-Sticks just about anywhere these days. I got some at Target about 5 months ago when I was on a TKD...

It is ketones that is smelling. Those are the results of a rapid breakdown of fatty acid.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up

Grab keto-stix, or a blood sugar tester. Supposedly you have to be around 50 points to enter ketosis, and a lot of people feel sick at those levels. I come home from the gym feeling like absolute crap on leg day wanting to throw up, because my blood sugar is too low.

Takes time to get used to it, one reason Atkins uses a stepped program, not immediate carb cut.

I thought the first stage of Atkins was zero carbs.

No, most people would experience the lethargy that goes along with that. Yo yo diets are ill recommended, and most people would fail going from carb hell to zero carbs. Dr. Atkins came out with his version of the diet in 1972, and it flopped then so it has been retooled probably more than once to be more readily accepted.
