fish question

Is fish skin like chicken skin? ....meaning like is it very bad for you? Or is it ok and can be eaten?

I just broiled a salmon steak that had skin on it and I peeled it off and chuncked it in the trash. I was wondering if its bad for you or not.

Other than Fish skin is fine for you. Salmon, swordfish and shark do tend to have a bit of fat right under the skin but nothing detrimental.

Thanks Jodi. I wasn't sure.

I did see a bit of fat under the skin so I decided to throw it away. I didn't really need it anyway.

Some of that fat is healthy for you too but I couldn't eat it.

dang am I the ONLY one that eats the skin from my salmon, trout, etc?
ITs FULL of healthy fats!!
and if you cook the fish right it comes out somewhat crispy.

I love fried fish skin, it tastes so good. I never thought about the healthy benefits though.

Haha.. I like that too. You just need to prepare it well. The good flavor always comes from fat. Nothing healthy about it though.

I eat sardines a lot, and the skin is still on them. I eat the bones too. Of course, I eat the skin on kiwi fruit too, but most people think I'm insane.
