Bicep pain

Greetings from SoCal. I recently returned to weight training after a nine week forced layoff due to having a ganglion cyst removed from thre back of my left hand.

About three weeks into the big "come back", I started having symptoms of bicep tendonitis near the elbow of my left bicep. I have been off another four weeks, alternate ice and moist heat, Naprosen and rest. It does not seem to respond. The pain is still there.

The other symptom is the inability to flex my left bicep. It almost feels like there is something in there restricting the ability of fully flexing my bicep. I also have pain upon supination and pronation of my forearm.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm 48, 6'2" and 235 lbs., have pumped iron off and on since 14 and have never had any injuries

you could have possibly torn the bicep tendon or the muscle itself....it is unusual to have pain on both supination and pronation with simple tendonitis (although it is possible)

i would get this looked at by a specialist.

if it is torn...sometimes surgery is the only option....and many people choose not to have the surgery done....not really a big deal in day to day life because most functionality is intact....but it will certainly impede your lifting if this is the case.
