I have had a lot of advice on doing bench presses. i.e. Some people 1)tell me to arch my back others say keep it straight and relaxed 2) bring the shoulder blades together 3) force your upper back into the bench 4) push down with your feet 4) put your feet up on the bench, etc etc it gets very confusing.

Please give some definitive advice or direct me to a site with the proper bp method.

Thanks

arch your back, but keep butt on the bench, and keep feet flat on the floor.

here are a few bench press articles:

See my signature.

Look at the WORLDS BEST BENCHERS, they dont stick their feet in the air or any garbage like that.

The thing that was most confusing to me was KEEP YOUR ARMS TUCKED IN, I practiced the form for a week straight before I got the entire technique down in a generic sense. Also, center the weight over your wrists to avoid strain.

I go about 2 inches below the nipple to keep my arms inside, if you stick your elbows outside you hit the delts too much and that was the bulk of my problem. Bench is actually a pretty technical lift, and even after that initial week I have tightened up the technique for myself overall.
