Denver Nuggets Coach Suspended....

NBA coach Dan Issel of the Denver Nuggets was suspended on
Wednesday for four games for shouting a profanity and sensitive
ethnic remarks at a fan.

As he walked off the court after a 99-96 loss to the Charlotte
Hornets on Tuesday, Issel yelled back to a fan "go drink another
beer, you Mexican ..." with an expletive at the end of his words.

The exchange of taunts was caught on a local TV program, and
team general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said "we take this very
seriously" and the penalty was "very severe".

At a later news conference attended by some Hispanic media,
Issel apologized, saying the confrontation was "very stupid and
regrettable."

The fan shouted at Issel as he left the court after the loss to
Charlotte, the Nuggets' fifth defeat in a row and 14th of 21 games
this season. It was unclear what the fan said.

Nuggets point guard Nick Van Exel tried to steer Issel away
from the confrontation, but the coach stopped and shouted at the fan.

I think the suspension was fitting. He just lost his cool. It happens.

This has become a huge deal in Denver the last two days. It's all over the news, radio, papers....kind of rediculous.

The Hispanic organization wants him fired and they claim they will not give up until it happens.

My question is, how come no one is saying anything about the jack ass fan the instigated the whole thing?

Hmmm....nobody on the East Coast really seems to give a rats ass.

IMO, professional athletes and their coaches/managers need to just bite their lips when a situation like that presents itself. Fans are stupid and don't care what they players and coaches think. If the fan is being a jerk, let other fans kick his ass.

I don't think i am a racist, but what if he would of said "german" instead of "mexican"???

Then they have black pride day!
Could you in=magine the uproar if they would have a white prite day????

I agree, the way they played the race card on the issue was very exaggerated.

Just an update on this, the rumor is that he is going to resign this week
