Just wondering ..is peanut butter healthy? Wat are the benefits and drawback of consuming peanut butter?

you deserve a treat, so go for it...

but choose peanut butter with low fat, salt reduced ones if you eat it all the time... ~~

All natural PB is fine.

The fat is what makes PB healthy.

I'd go for natural, unsalted PB. I so love that stuff

Hopefully Mayo won't see this or the 2 of us are going to have another PB battle

So wat are the major benefits of peanut butter?

It's a healthy fat, is what. Your body needs a certain amount of fat to function, and it generally prefers nutty or fishy fats (which can be used by various tissues including the brain as nutrients) to generic "any old" fats or saturated fats.

The negative qualities of peanut butter include: extreme nutrient density (in other words, it's way too easy to consume far more calories than you meant to with, really, not that many spoonfuls), and second, peanuts are one of the most common allergens in our diet. Many researchers believe that apart from the well-known, life-threatening, die-if-a-peanut's-in-the-room level of allergy, that with these common allergens (which also include wheat, corn and dairy) a lot more people are walking around with sub-clinical levels of sensitivity. In short, any time a person eats the food, the body reacts as though to a low-level infection or attack, the immune system goes into play, and generally it's an often-repeated, needless stress on the system.

If you notice that you feel clogged up or "mucusy" after eating peanut butter, that could be why.

interesting facts ... thanks ..
So as I am planning to loose some weight and body fat .. wat do you think would be better ... margirine (hope i spelled it rite) or peanut butter?

Posted by: Akateros

Pardon?

Peanut butter, no contest. Margarine is crap.

You could do olive oil or other nuts, too, as a fat source.

Don't forget about flax seed and fish oil. Those two are excellent sources of healthy fats as well. Also, I sometimes use a little soybean oil or canola oil, but I try to use olive oil if possible. It's just that some of my sardines are packed in soybean oil, and mayo and salad dressings often contain canola oil.

It's a cereal. It's one of the best for you. High in Fiber, low in fat and calories. I like to mix it with cottage cheese.

Full of aspartame, though... and I notice that it includes maltodextrin fairly high on the ingredient list.

I eat it anyway.
