Wondering here..........How many grams of sugar would be considered too much on a per serving basis? Just wondering cause I like to use Miracle Whip, the light version which has only 2g fat per serving, 11g c and only 2g sugar per srving....would this be considered too much sugar per serving?

Small amount of sugar such as that in your miracle whip is not going to hurt you. The goal is to just stay away from sugar but there are going to be minute amounts in alot of things we eat.

...as well, there is generally some in just about every protein shake. 2 g is nothing, don't sweat it.

I beg to differ with everybody above... the only way to know if this is too much sugar, or if there is no problem is to CHECK YOURSELF with a glucose meter...

Go ahead and eat it... then check yourself 30 minutes later... if your blood glucose rose to about 100 or 105 then: no problem...

If your blood glucose rose to 120 or above, then it is too much sugar...

Don't look only at "sugar" because SUGAR is 100% "carbohydrates"... the label says it contains 11 grams c (I suppose that means "carbohydrates" ???) and 2 grams of sugar... If they are separate, then that is 13 grams of sugar, call it whatever you wish, in your blood it is sugar...

But that is 13 grams for what amount of the product? If it is 100 grams of product and 13 grams of carbs, (or 11 grams of carbs) then you can probably take 100 grams without raising your glucose above 105, if you are not diabetic...

But if it is 13 grams of carbs (or 11 grams of carbs) per serving and the serving is, say, 35 grams, then you can still have one serving, but nobody takes one serving...

But I DON'T KNOW and I CAN'T TELL from the information you wrote above, and besides, you might be diabetic so what is o.k. for me is not o.k. for you...

So you see, NOBODY REALLY KNOWS, but everybody here has already given you an opinion...

Don't believe anybody... Not even me... Test yourself with a glucose meter, and whatever the glucose meter says, you can believe that.

If you are not diabetic your blood sugar should not raise above 120 anyway.. I had a scare a while back and I 'checked' my Blood sugar after eating PURE SUGAR BROWNIES and it wasnt over 120.. BUT i KNOW that brownies have too much sugar for an everyday eating pattern..

yeah, that is practical.

This is ridicuous...any carb will raise your blood sugar...not only sugar. Please....do not listen to this..."you know what LOL"...a couple grams of sugar is nothing...do NOT sweat it TRUST me

^ Definitely true. All carbs have effects on insulin. Hell I read studies that show protein-only meals have noticeable effects on insulin

Peace.

Posted by: Fit Freak

Protein also affects insulin...you are absolutely TRUE....insulin is used to transport nutrients...not only carbs...so eating anything ...generally...will affect insulin...some more than others.

Insulin is not necessarily bad thing...we need it to ransport nutrients.

Too much insulin is where the issues arrise.
