What is sugar alcohol and why should you subtract it from the total when counting carbs?

Sugar alcohols are things like sorbitol, maltitol. They are found in sf gum, sf candy sf anything just about. They can cause havoc on your digestion system. People deduct the count because they have very little to no effect on blood sugar levels.

So its ok I went out and got sf gummy bears and sf jellybeans? Even though it stil says like 120 cals, its all from sugar alcohol.

They still count as calories...so be careful. In fact..although they donot impact blood sugar...they are one step closer to fat than carbs...personally I would take a healthy carb over a sugar alcohol any day.

Cals are cals...if you eat more than you burn off your w8 loss goals will be out the door.

Ok, so even though it wouldnt bt sugar carbs, it would still be carbs. And carbs = cals so no sf anything

Cept Jello
