I'm new to this board and to bodybuilding. I'm 16 years old, I weigh about 150 pounds, and I've been lifting for about 3 months now. I'm not sure my exact body fat percent, but I"m pretty lean.
I have a serving of orange juice in the morning with 5 grams of creatine and I drink a serving of Optimum's 100% Whey protein right after I workout and I usually mix about 5 grams of creatine with that as well. I have been comsuming about 10 grams of creatine a day now for about the last past week and I have noticed significant differences in my lifting.
One of my friends said that this is too much creatine for my age, is this true? I'm using GNC's creatine plus (I think I might switch to Met-Rx's micronized creatine though). I've read that 150 pound person should consume something like 20 grams of creatine but I figured since I was younger it might not be the same.
Is this true? Should I consume 20 grams of creatine a day? Stick with 10 grams? Don't do it at all?
Thanks in advance!!

Unless something has changed, you do not want to put your creatine in orange juice at all. The acids supposedly destroy it, water also breaks it down if you let it sit for awhile.
5-10 grams a day sounds fine, you dont need 20 grams IMO.

i don't recommend taking supplement advice from your friends. 90% of the time they will tell you wrong information (unless they do research). citric acid destroys creatine so, pretty much, you have been drinking 10 grams of creatinine, waste product that you excrete thru your urine (your poor kidneys). you'll be ok tho, just mix you creatine with grape juice. then have another creatine serving (w/grape juice) post workout with your whey protein.
(note: for all you sticklers out there, you probably aren't getting a full 10 g of creatine but it is possible that it close to this number)

thanks for all the info!
are there any side effects from creatine? or any long term things i should know about? i understand that you have to drink more water because creatine routes more water to your muscles? is that correct? anyways... i noticed on the back of Met-Rx's micronized creatine it says "DIRECTIONS FOR ADULT USE" ... does this mean i should not take it since im not an "adult"? or maybe just take less or half of what the "ADULT USE" doses are? What do you guys think?
Also... should i take it only on the days i work out? or every day?
Thanks!!

side effects...... well, you have to drink a lot of water or else your kidneys could go bad, sometimes you get the shits....... otherwise its a really safe supplement, and i love it!
