The free agent signing period is always interesting. I don't see the Lakers letting Kobe get away though. They got rid of Phil Jackson and are willing to trade Shaq, just to keep Kobe happy.

Why wouldn't he want to stay now? Assuming Shaq is traded, there won't be any of those annoying "star players" left on the Lakers' squad to prevent him from taking his mandatory 50 shots/game. Yup, just him and 50-year old Gary Payton, can you smell the championship?
