How much would be to low of a percentage of protein in your diet, to gain weight i am now forced to go up to 4,000 cals a day to gain weight. I am about 165 lbs, so if i eat approx 1.25 x my bw in protein that would come out to about 20% of my daily calories from protein, would that be too low a % for protein? What would be a good split on 4,000 cals cause if i do a 40/40/20 that would be at about 400 grams protein or almost 2 x my bw

I dont see the need to go that high in protein in diet. Personally I have never gone by % for total intake. I just aim for an approx average. Id say 1.5X bw is plenty. dividing the rest amoung healthy fats and complex carbs.
are you an ecto? have a fast metabolism?

I'd shoot for 1.5 - 2 G per pound especially with your metabolism. You don't want your body chewing at its own protein.

yeah i would be less active, but it's hard in the summer down here in sd, i mean today i went to the gym, did some back and tri's, pumped out a quick mile and a half on the gym(i have to run, it is in me to do so), and then i came back home took a quick bike ride to the beach, saw some nice waves, and went out and had some fun in em, i feel like going to play some basketball tonight too(haven't played in a while)
