I have use glucosamine/msm for years and I think it is awesome!! Don't expect results immediately. I had to take it everyday for like 2 months before I could really feal a difference in my joints. It is cheap/effective and I think it is an essential supplement for those with joint pain and those who want to keep there joints healthy.

As Madden said, very effective! Took about 3 months for me to see results, but the improvement was dramatic!

There are some good clinical studies on Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM for improving joint health. I believe most the studies used 1500mg Glucosamine and 1200mg Chondroitin Sulfate.

Another good supplement for joints is SAM-e, it's also used for elevate mood and to promote liver health. SAM-e kicks in very quickly for join pain, about 7-14 days.

One important thing I forgot to mention about glucosamine and Chondroitin is if you are allergic to sulfur drugs you should avoid it.

If SAM-e is also used for elevate mood I my stack it with my St. John's Wart and Valerian, my low carb diet is really starting to bum me out. Any suggestions??

You need seratonin, my friend. 5-HTP is gaining popularity. However, I would suggest eating enough carbohydrates.

If it is a day with no planned training I will pop a couple of Valerian for my anxiety during the day, but I use it mostly to help me sleep.

It has to be the stinkiest stuff going. For anyone who has not tried Valerian it smells like the worst pair of sweat socks x10.

St John's Wort tends to interact with a lot of medications so I'd be wary of stacking it. SAM-e has some strong clinicals relating to depression and has very few side effects. Here's a link to a government sponsored study:-
S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine for Treatment of Depression, Osteoarthritis, and Liver Disease

I've been taking a powder supplement of Glucosamine from EAS and I hve definately noticed it's healing and regenerative properties since I haven't been crippled as heavily from the intense workouts I keep hitting myself with recently.
