Interesting Facts:

1) The 1992 REAL dream team averaged 7 turnovers per game! Per fu**ing game! Jefferson had about 102 yesterday!
2) Richard Jefferson and Iverson don't know when they're NOT on fire.

The only guy on that team who should be is Tim Duncan. And Puerto Rico focused their defense on Duncan and it became obvious the other guys aren't up to snuff.

It's time for the world to admit that Iverson is the most overrated player in the NBA. He may average close to 30 a game in the NBA, but he also hoists up 50 shots a night. Richard Jefferson? When did role players become big names? Shawn Marion? Lamar Odom? What the hell is going on here?

And then there's LeBron and Carmelo. Two guys with no right to be on the team. But hey, it's GREAT PR for David Stern and this "all-youth, no talent" movement he's going for. It won't be too long and he'll allow junior high kids to jump straight to the NBA. Sure, they will be underdeveloped and have no talent, but then, these two young "stars" aren't showing a lick of talent at the Olympics either.

While countries are catching up talent wise, if the best NBA players in the league actually played, as in the 1992 Dream Team, we would have won that game quite a sufficient margin.

Half of these players are role players, and regular NBA joes. If we had a true 2004 Dream Team with the best of the best... it would still be a landslide.

well well who watched the US/Lithuania game. the US had the game in their grasp and they gave up 3 three balls in consecutive posessions to lose. They lack that killer instinct for sure. They couldn't hit an outside jumper to save their life and they couldn't penetrate their zone. To top it off Jefferson launched thsi ridiculous three ball with 17 secs left and down three to seal the victory for the undefeated Lith team. US is 2-2 now

Hopefully, David Stern and NBA scouts will realize they're no longer putting a quality product onto the court. STOP drafting these under-developed players, especially those from high school, as only a few have made the transition successfully; most of the NBA players have no fundamentals what so ever and it showed in the Olympics. This team has proven that NBA players are way overpaid and too many have swelled heads.

Their attitudes aren't entirely to blame. (Though to be sure, with the exception of Duncan, they're a bunch of a-holes.) They didn't have anyone who could nail a fucking jump shot. They had one big man who was constantly in foul trouble. They didn't have the talent! You can blame them all you want, but the real fault lies with all those jackasses that rejected their invites. I still believe they would have walked away with gold if Shaq & co. showed up. At the very least things would have been very different if they had a few legit outside shooters. (No, Marbury doesn't count.)

College Players aren't the answer. The US isn't so Great anymore(or should I say the Rest of the world has been catching up), that it can send just any joe blow to compete in Basketball and do well. Most Countries have Pro leagues, and Colleges Players would be Dominated Plain and Simple.
