Very true.

look at your cal intake and say you have 1000 cals a day up it by 500 so you then have 1500 a day you should notice a differance quite quick

The three tings that helped most:

Oatmeal, peanut butter and lots of protein from various resources. I gained a mere 40lbs from this in three years. Sure, some of it was fat, but I didnt care.

Have this in various times of the day (the above ingredients make for a good in-between-meal ). Also, have it at night before you go beddy bye.

You might want to supplement with creatine. Don't worry about doing a loading phase. Just drink a lot of water and 1 scoop a day should suit you fine. Also, increase the fats (good ones) like: fish capsules and flax oil. Eat more tuna, chicken and beef-mainly more beef, becuase it stimulates production of testosterone or something like that. I dont really have the info but it worked for me.

Lastly, do a workout solely based on the old 20 rep breath squat routine. Good books out there you know. I particularly like Randall Strossen's books (here's a link: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...26888005&itm=5 ) on gaining weight. It's rather old-school but it certainly works.

Good luck!

BTW-Flex mag just put a good article out for gaining mass. It's in this month's issue. I plan on trying it when my contest is over.

I hope you arent talking about the mass gainer/whey powder. Because those are definately not garbage. One shake has 1100 calories 153g carbs 50g pure whey protein. I count one as one of my six meals per day

if you have a hard time getting enough calories thru food than supplementing with a weight gainer is fine, this is especially true of ectomorph body types.

If it's your workout routine that's laggin, try to make that better, than when you hit a plateau you could try some weight gainer but IMO there is no point in taking weight gainer, or any supplement for that matter if you know your workout routine is not very good because it would just be a waste of money

id say diet is more important than routine..... at least it seemed like that for me (as ecto as they get)

That means it has over 30 grams of fat--lots of which are probably saturated and trans fats due to their longer shelf lives. That is a lot of extra "bad" fat if your eating 6 times a day. You would be better off with whole foods. If you want lots of fat in a shake, put plenty of natural peanut butter in it.

you need to learn how to eat healthy as an athlete. weight gainers are not magic. just because you increase your calories doesn't mean you are going to pack on a lot of muscle...

Make your own, there are plenty of sites online that have recipes on how to make gainers that are cheaper than store bought ones.
