Eating During School

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

School starts tommorow for me and I could use all the critiquing I can get. Here goes.

Wake up.

Protein Shake.

Natural Peanut Butter on Wheat bread.

Lunch. (three milks, half pound turkey sandwhich w/ mustard, protein brownie, apple) Also at lunch I will be taking my multi-vitamin and flax seed oil.

Natural Peanut Butter on Wheat bread.

School ends.

Tuna Fish w/ mustard.

Workout.

Is this a relatively good diet plan, and if some of the other high schoolers on this board want to post what they do, I would greatly appreciate it.

During school I usually throw whey in two shakers and about a cup of peanuts and thats my two meals in between lunch and dinner.

Posted by: soxmuscle

wouldn't peanut butter and wheat bread be more beneficial than peanuts?

I have always thought about bringing my shaker to school, but I use it at home too often that if I broke it or lost it, it would be awful for a week or two until I bought a new one.

maybe take some pre-made protein shakes that you could have slightly frozen , you know the ones they sell in the fridge already made up that way you can try different flavours as well ?

Posted by: soxmuscle

There real expensive. I think im fine with the protein shakes taking one when I wake up and then taking one after I work out.

can't eat during class? i always did that and most of my teachers didn't seem to mind as long as i did my work; and i'm not talkin about shakes;take some turkey or chicken and cut it up and put it in plastic bags and throw it in ur pack/locker.whatever and for carbs i had yogurt. It's too hard bringin yams. u could do brown rice

Posted by: kvyd

Why not just buy a few more shaker cups, they arnt that expensive Its so easy to mix a shake. Put some oats in it and mix and call it a meal.

I suppose I can eat during class depending on my teacher, but I'd rather just eat inbetween classes.

The Yogurt idea isn't bad at all, and I love the turkey and chicken idea but my mom is already bashing me for spending $25.00 on turkey a week for five sandwhiches.

Taking the shaker to school is definitly a good idea, and I suppose for only a couple dollars another shaker is obtainable.

Im just curious, how much whey do you guys eat per day? If I have two scoops of 24 grams ON whey protein per shake, and I have two scoops, is there any reason to have more?

yeah i started school and im trying to gain weight and muscle but its hard eating right at school..i mean the money for the diets isnt necessarily all that much money but i have a big family of girls...and im the only guy. So getting good food for me is hard, inless i take leftovers. school food isnt all that well, but yeah i have been eating peanut butter sandwiches alot on whole wheat. any tips or pointers as to have a good diet with jus stuff that is normally found in any kitchen. such as peanut butter sandwiches, anything else simple like that?

Ummmm VEGGIES! Why all this bread?

Veggies, and where's the protein

School ends.

Tuna Fish w/ mustard.

Oh great, more bread

Workout.

See my comments above in bold.

You need to rework some things here. You have no healthy complex carbs such as oats, sweet potatoes or brown rice. You have barely enough protein to feed a 100 pound skinny girl and you have absolutely no veggies. Another thing, WAY too much bread.

You really should reconsider a meal plan change to help reach your goals.

I assume this is a bulk?

Well this is what I'm gonna be doing when school starts
wake up at 6am have breakfast then do my cardio or weight training.
Then at about 8:10-8:30 I'll have my brown rice/protein shake.
The at 11:30-12:00 I'll walk home and have my lunch
and depending on the day (if I have a metting...damn school clubs and them making your resumes and such look better) I might have to bring some crackers with peanut butter and fat free chesse for after school...hopefully I don't sleep in one day and screw the hell outta my schedule.

Okay, what are some good sources of EFA's?

14 grams from the bread, and 10 from the peanut butter isn't all that bad is it?

I definitly need to add some veggies, and I'll do that starting tommorow. I do eat quite alot of bread with the three sandwiches huh. What would be a good replacement instead? I just don't see anything else.

Nah, I actually eat the tuna plain.

Again, this is only my plan for at school. I have 2 cups of oatmeal daily after I workout. Now that I think about it, I definitly do need more protein and I think i'll start by making some chicken breast for tommorow.

I am definitly trying to bulk up in size, weight, and muscle by adding more calories, protein etc. to my diet, but I think once I get my diet for school perfected I am going to keep up this bulk all year.

I currently am 5'4, 128 pounds.

ok here's what i do:
In morning wait as long as i can to eat
then eat either cereal (yea i know...)
or plain oatmeal with milk

in my lunch i pack chicken, and a banana

I eat the banana b4 4th period b/c i have to wait to eat lunch after 4th period
so if i didnt eat that banana, i would have to wait about 5 hours to eat O>O
not good....

so at lunch i buy 2 milks and a fruit cup to go with chicken,
then after school i eat something immediatly when i get home
but now ive started tennis so i have to bring something extra cuz i cant go home

so now i make a ham and cheese sandwich on whole wheat for right after school...

Sox, you read my mind about eating during school. Rather than starting a whole new thread, perhaps I can piggyback on yurs if you don't mind.

I pretty much have the same delimma, gotta eat to bulk but dont wanna spend a whole lotta money to do it (tuition @ UW-Madison: $2933 a semester). Here is what I'm doing now (and I kno its not that great):

Breakfst:

Bagel or 2 pieces toast w/PB (sometimes scr. eggs)
2 cups skim milk

Lunch:
Turkey/Chicken/Beef Sub
2 cups skim milk

Dinner:
Currently, whatever I can get at Cafeteria, suggestions plz.
2 cups skim milk

Post Workout: 23 grams whey protein (go ON)
Before Bed: 23 grams whey protein

I need help with between meals and such. PB is cheap and so is tuna, so I sometimes eat a sandwich before bed as well. Any input is great.

Sounds like a lot of us have the same problem!

I'm starting college in a couple weeks, and I'll be living in the dorms. The meals are on a point system, and I have enough points for roughly 18 full meals a week, or something like that. Now on these meals, I wont have any problems getting what I need to eat, the buffet deal is awesome. The only problems I have is the other times, I'll have to either buy something, or make something up, which is going to be hard not having anything even resembling a kitchen.... I will have a little tiny fridge, and that's about it. I guess I can keep some milk in there, and I'll have shakes... any other ideas of stuff I can whip up in my dorm?... keep in mind, any dishes will be washed in the bathroom... not fun
