for the last little bit I was eating 2800 calories, doing cardio 5x a week, and using a cable pulley for my weights. I wasn't gaining any weight I was just maintaining, but then this week I switched my routine to cardio 3x a week, and I'm now using free weights and I gained 2 pounds while still eating the 2800 calories, not that I'm complaining I'm happy but I was just curious, cause 2 sessions of cardio can't make a difference of 2 pounds could it? or is it just the fact that I'm using free weights now so gaining muscle is alot easier?

Probably some muscle (minimal), and mostly water/glycogen that you'd usually burn off with the extra 2 sessions of cardio.

that happened the very first week I started eating 2800 calories, I gained two pounds the first week then I stayed the same for 2 weeks. The I cut my cardio back to 3x a week but I only ate 2800 5 days a week and 2000 calories 2x a week and ended up losing 2 pounds, so i decided to eat 2800 calories everyday and you know the rest.
ugh it's like a cycle gain 2 pounds, mantain, lose 2 pounds, gain 2 pounds..
I'm getting fed up but I can't increase my calories intake because I'm already so full and my mom's getting kinda pissed off that my groceries are costing $90+ a week.
Would I be able to eat say 2400 calories 6x a week, then on the 7th day I go out on a complete junk food binge, while still eating my fiber and 1.5x my bodyweight in protein. (so in the end like 4000-5000 calories) or would that increase my chance of gaining fat instead of muscle?

so would anyone know if I would gain fat rather than msucle if I did the 2400/4000-5000 calorie thing? sorry if I'm being annoying on my wholel diet, it's just I really want to just hurry up and gain the weight so I can't stop feeling so bloated/a pig all the time.
also I forgot to mention that I would do the junkffod bing (cause no way I could eat that much of clean food) on cardio/pilate days so i could still get all the stuff I need for weight lifting days

I wouldn't worry about being overly scientific with your calorie counting...By all means count your macros, but there are many times in life when circumstantial conditions, variable X, if you will, is going to change the course of your diet/gains, be it walking through the mall or physical work, it is difficult to calculate it to the T.

Rule of thumb: either use a BW* # method, or simply error on the high side, such that you are 100% sure you are at least 250-500 cals surplus ea. day.

well my problem is, is that i have no idea how much calories I burn a day, according to sites my RMR is 1500 calories and I only burn an extra 900 calories a day, then acording to the number thing I should be eating like 2200 calories to gain weight.
I just have no clue, I'm already eating 2800 calories and mostly always the weight I gain is water weight that i can lose in a day if I eat 2000 calories. I can't eat anymore clean food in a day I'm so full and bloated all the time.
thats why I was wondering if I could eat clean for 6 days a week then on the 7th completly binge on junkfood (since junk dosen't fill me up) while still eating some fiber and protein on that day, without worrying about more fat gain compared to muscle gain.
I'm very very anal about when and what I eat, I went on vacation for a week and ended up bringing an entire week's worth of food with me cause i refused to eat at restaurants, so I have no probblem folowing a diet (I actually like clean food better than junk) I just have a problem with eating ALOT, it probably wouldn't be so bad if I didn't drink so much water lol
