Does anyone know of a website that does user reviews/doctor advice on weight loss products, or supplements? Somewhere that you can do a search on a particular product and see what users and doctors have to say about it?

I don't know of a site which meets your exact needs but these might help.

Healthnotes reviews dietary supplements (by ingredients, not brands) and all of their content is written by MDs. They licence their content to retailers and supplement companies, an example being http://ralphs.com/HN_Index/All_Index.htm

A site which tests dietary supplements against their label claims is http://www.consumerlabs.com/ For detailed info you need to sign up as a member.

If you're looking for research on supplements or drugs try places like pubmed.com, medscape.com or ajcn.org etc.

A friend of mine received "free" Miracleburn through the mail. A product everyone usually gets notified of in their spam box. Its like, a 7 day free trial weight loss supplement made by Urban Nutrition. She started taking it today and Im concerned for her. I cant find any information on it at all. And she wont be one to listen if there isnt a valid reason against it since its only for 7 days. Anyone heard of it?

Im trying to do a search on these websites RedSpy gave me and am getting no luck

This product? http://www.miracleburn.com

Posted by: Josie

Yes... I dont know if I buy that website entirely. Im looking for the facts - not the advertisement. It seem so shady to me. She definetely started today, and neither of us know anything about it except for what the "advertisement" website says

Posted by: redspy

If you look at the ingredients it contains a number of commonly used compounds - http://www.miracleburn.com/prodinfo_ingredients.htm

Personally I would not purchase product from companies that realy on SPAM to sell their products. In my view it's unprofessional and unethical.

Bottom line: she's not going to die but the quality of the product is questionable.

who the hell cares what a doctor thinks about a weight loss product?

this common misconception that a doctor is an expert on diet, nutrition and supplements really gets under my skin because the majority do not know shit!

thier solution is to give you the latest weight loss drug that is being pushed to them.

I know some gals at my work that went to their "expert doctors" and were put on crash diets where they drank shakes 5 times per day, no food, and took a drug...wow, what a freaking expert.

you want expert advice, ask your questions on this board.

Um. ok. but as body builders I can almost guarantee none of you actually used this particular product. So as "experts", if there is one of you out there that can tell me how you feel, how your affected, side effects and details of how this product makes you feel when, during and/or after using, please do so.

I bet I will get no response.

I wasnt asking for "other" advice. I was merely asking for a site with user reviews. I know she shouldnt take it, you all know she shouldnt take it. We dont need experts for that. I want facts on this product from someone who has taken it or someone that is familiar with it.

Sorry I insulted your intelligence.

You don't need any weight loss supplements. You just need to correct your diet and start eating what you should be eating. Forget the pills and quick loss. It will never work in the long term. Only a change in lifestyle will help!
Tell her to sign up here!!

To add to this, they generally know nothing about exercise. The 4th year med student I work with asked to borrow my exercise physiology book because they don't teach any of that stuff.

Yes thank you. I already know this. Why do you think IM posting on here

Still does not answer my questions to why I originally posted this. I think yall are missing my point.

I went to the website www.miracleburn.com

First of all any supplement that is being advertised using SPAM is garbage, period. If it were a quality supplement being made by a reputable company this is not how they would go about marketing their product.

Secondly, here are the ingrediants: http://www.miracleburn.com/prodinfo_ingredients.htm

they're okay, but nothing special, I can name off many other supps that have similar ingrediants that are cheaper, so this is no miracle fat burner.

Conclusion, this supp is $45 for a one month supply, based on the ingrediants is is NOT worth it. I do not need any reviews, nor do I need to use it to tell you that.

No the point is you need to be convincing her that she needs to change her diet/lifestyle. Not just take a pill. You pick out any person on this site that you admire or think they look good. It's because they eat right and exercise. They don't look for a shortcut. That leads to failure almost every time.

Actually bodybuilders are the best informed when it comes to fatburners, usually, getting lean is very important to a bodybuilder especially a competitive one.

But, since you came to a board filled with educated, informed and experienced bodybuilders, weightlifters, etc., you're correct we would never fall victim to a garbage supplement like this. And anyone that comes here asking about one we will quickly point this out to you and hopefully save you some money.

Ok look. Some of you on this board take supplements. I dont know what or why or how. I dont care. The point is, wouldnt you like to research a product fully before you take it? If you know nothing about it, you will ask someone who does. Or at least research it before you decide you are for it. Lets be simple and take baby steps and say that there is a new protein powder out there that is mixed with a "special" ingredient that is equivalent to creatine. Lets say your interested. Lets say you know people who take it. Lets say you want to investigate this "special" ingredient and what it does to your body. how it makes it react. You dont want to hear if you should or shouldnt. You want to hear ABOUT it.

The fact is here, is that she already started it. I am trying to research it for her since all of our (yours and mine) reasons to NOT take it are the same.

This isnt an unreasonable question. I am merely stating that if there is a website or search engine out there where you can research an ACTUAL product - you all know what I mean, dont even say you dont - I would like to know about it.

Maybe yall are the wrong group of people to be asking. Because from looks of it, all yall will be telling me is to tell her no.

Posted by: redspy

The search engine you seek doesn't exist so here's what you do: ascertain the ingredient of the supplement and then look for relevant clinical studies.

Let's be honest here, a lot of doctors can be 'bought' by supplement manufacturers or Big Pharma so their credibility is often suspect. Do your own research and develop your own conclusions.

Posted by: bulletproof1

what they are saying is there is no special ingredients in this supplement. even if there were, in order for it to be successful her diet needs to be in check. many here have tried fat burners in which some have been successful. that is why we have a "supplement forum."

it is a joke the way people believe pills are going to give them the body they want. diet is where the answer is.

sure, but did you not read my post? there are no "special ingrediants" in this product, no research is necessary, at least not for me.

I spent some time on this, checked out the site and the product and gave you the answer, obviously you do not like my answer. So yes this is the wrong place to ask if you want someone to give you the answer you are looking for.
