Thoracic outlet syndrome

How common is it? My sister had a blood clot recently that was linked to it. She has been advised to not lift anything over 20lbs ever again?!? I know I must have a similar thoracic outlet, being related to her, and I have veins are that very pronounce under my right arm (the one that she had a clot in).

- Bluish discoloration of the hand NO
- Feeling of heaviness in the arm or hand NO
- Pulsating lump above the clavicle OCCASSIONALLY
- Deep, boring toothache-like pain in the neck and shoulder region which seems to increase at night SOMETIMES, but i don't fit on my bed
- Easily fatigued arms and hands NOT really
- Superficial vein distention in the hand NO more than my other hand

Not sure if it is hereditary or not, but if you go for checkups, it may not be a bad idea to be checked!

That's a good point.
I"m pretty sure it's hereditary. There are some VERY pronounce vains under my right arm.

TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome) can have many, many causes...some hereditary, some not.
The blood clot issue sounds like a vascular problem and the actual cause needs to be found....was it from some type of injury or post surgery or was it some type of congenital vascular problem that you too may have.
worth looking into IMO
