In case you didnt read my last post, im kinda stuck on a ship with no real choice in healthy foods, just whats at my disposal, id like to bulk from about 150 to 170 or so, so after some feedback from you guys im making a new meal plan. Here goes:

Meal 1

3 whole eggs around 250 cals
2 packets unflavored reg oatmeal appx 200 cals
1/2 apple 40 cals
total 490 cals

Meal 2

1 cup chicken about 5 oz, 250 cals
Large Salad, lots of veggies 50 cals
Cup of soup 100 cals or so
*Should i have another package of oats here? or possibly some pb on wheat, all i have is skippy, not natty and reg wheat, not the good stuff.
Total 400 +
Meal 3
2 slices reg wheat toast 140 cals
Some form of deli turkey, or chicken breast, usually around 4 oz +- 200 cals
*I could add in some more oats here, an apple, the pb, or some flavored (not reg) yoghurt. What do you recommend.
Total 340 +

Meal 4
Same as meal 2 Usually not too much more carbs here though, no oatmeal.
or whatever they are serving, some form of protein, usually around 6oz worth, beef, chicken or fish, but not usually cooked the healthiest way, ending up around 400 cals or so and some veggies with a small salad
Total 400+ clean or 500+ not so clean

Meal 5
Not much to choose from here at all
i could have a glass or two of milk, some more yogurt (flavored) or some Pb on wheat. what would you do here?
Total ??? varies day to day

Total for the day around 1800-1900 without meal 5 counted in

Any advice would be great, thanks in advance.

bump. Anyone out there?

Posted by: Tha Don

i bet jodi or emma will give you a much more detailed analysis of ways to bump this diet up

but in the meantime here are some of my suggestions...

meal 1 - oatmeal and eggs are cool, you could do with more eggs though, like maybe 3 whole eggs and 3 egg whites, or you could add a whey protein drink in (whey is a great idea at breakfast, as it gets the protein into your body fast, and as you haven't eaten all night this is what you want), also why 1/2 an apple?? eat the whole apple man! maybe add some toast and a glass of skimmed milk if your still hungry (or when you think you need to up things more), but for now the eggs, whey, oats and apple is a good start

meal 2 - chicken is cool, so is the salad, don't know much about soup but if its low in sat fat and sugar i don't see why not, maybe add in a jacket potato here, or some rice or w.wheat pasta, these foods are great to up your cals and should goes nice with the chicken (if its a bit dry try adding in some salsa), and obviously drink loads of water - that is my solution to eating dry tuna with no mayo

meal 3 - seems okay, possibly need to up the carbs here a little, maybe a large glass of milk, a bananna/apple or some other fruit would be good, veg. such as brocolli is also good (if you have time to cook), another idea is to add a bowl of high bran/fibre cereal (i like bran flakes, or weetabix mini crunch), i find low sugar/high fibre cereals are great for a few extra cals when bulking, so quick and hassle free

meal 4 - seems okay, fish is a good option (especially salmon) and plenty of vegtables, just pile on the veg if you can, throw on some salad too, the more the better especially if this is a post workout meal

meal 5 - here i would have a large serving of cottage cheese, like a big bowlful, and also some toast with nat PB on it, this is a good option before bed, maybe even a casien shake as well if poss

obviously you need your cals a LOT higher, like 2500-3000 to start putting weight on, then as you get bigger this will have to raise up even higher, might be and idea to try and fit in an extra meal

like breakfast, meal 2, lunch, meal 4, dinner, meal 6... is a common approach to fitting 6 meals in, and many ppl will also have a PWO shake on top of that, you should definatly look into getting a good whey protein supplment, and maybe a MRP (meal replacement) such as Met-Rx to help up the cals

also keep posting on these forums because you will learn a LOT

gd luck!

Picture yourself stuck in a school cafeteria and all you can eat is what they have. No natty pb, no ww pasta, no jacket potato, no whole wheat bread, just reg stuff. weve got skippy pb is that ok? reg wheat ok? reg oatmeal ok? etc. etc. Any help?

He is stuck on a ship, the kind that floats on water. How does packing a lunch help him?

lol, thanks bulkmeup. Thats the point im trying to get across. How bad would a regular skippy pb sandwich, maybe just one peice of bread, before bed be? Its either that or some milk, maybe some chicken breast. ???

Posted by: thajeepster

I tell you what, you guys are really helping me out. Ive eaten more in the past few days than i have for months. Im feeling really full all the time and very satisfied. Ahh bulking has its bonuses. I dont think im gaining quite yet though... I have no way to weigh myself on ship because of the constant rolling, my weight on the scale would probobly go from 120 to 240 within seconds on an upswell. Anyways, i look a little more full in my muscles, but i can still see all my definition, ive been bulking for about a week, should i up the cals even more? im getting around 2200 + cals for the day per my meals right now, but i usually sneak in some snacks like fruits, or whatever that probobly increases that number by about 200 or so.

Preferably use natural pb. Stuff that says ingredients:just peanuts. BUT in your case you might not have a choice. Try and have whole wheat bread if you can. For bedtime. a slow digesting protein is best recommended, like cottage cheese + you could have 1tbsp olive oil as you need good fats.

Yep, bulking is fun. Cutting is the beotch.

the only way to tell if your diet is working is to weigh yourself. If you are putting on about 1-2lb/week, then it is working. if not you need to increase cals by 200-300 per week until you start to see weight gains. Unfortunately, i cant help you with the ship rolling.

One thing you could do is measure your waist every week. if you find that the measurement is steadily increasing it would indicate you are putting on more fat than desired. But keep in mind on a bulk most people will put on some fat.
