Will a 5 day binge help me?

Prolly close to the best shape of my life right now and I have to go to SERE school for the next 12 days (survival school). My friends all lost 20lbs!!!! They give you no food for 7 days....nothing for a whole week.

I'm thinking of stuffing myself for the next 5 days in an effort to put on a few pounds of fat....attempting to spare the LBM.....I know this is a loose loose situation but will "packing it on" help me out?

Thanks 350Z

I can't say I would binge but refeeding instead could be a good option. Also, lots of protein. Can you take vitamins and pills?

I truly do believe in muscle memory, and that you'll be able to get your hard-earned muscle back eventually, but yeah I believe a refeed is in order. It would take a LOT for me to binge for a week, I don't think I could ever do it psychologically, I'd just feel terrible about myself

Peace.

5 meals a day instead of the traditional 3 squares would get you there better ... but you will be hungry anyway as you stop eatng your body goes into famine mode and stops burning fat. You wind up burning the wrong stuff if you go so extreme in change. Your system just gets all whacked out. Taper down the last 2 days ... so you don't get such a system shock through SERE. Good luck 350Z

Thanks for the replies.....what is "refeed".....by binge I'm talking about really high calories....and when I mean no food...I mean no food...including vitamins......this really kills me.

how would overeating before the trip help you in anyway?
Maybe bump up the carbs to fill up your gylcogen stores, but there isnt much you can do really.
While you are there try to do bodyweight exercises like pushups because you can still preserve as much muscle mass as possible. Dont get too worked up about it. I doubt 20 lbs is even possible in such a short amount of time. You will lose some muscle but also water. Maybe 5lbs? Im sorry your in a tough situation....

I don't know what to tell you. It's a tough situation but it's only 7 days outta your life. Your going to burn some muscle but I wouldn't worry about it. Once your back and have recovered, fill up with protein and go back to regular eating. Alot of the weight people loose in SERE school is also water weight so don't sweat it. And Good Luck, your about to have an adventure you won't soon forget!

No worries my Warrior Brother. Remember, the same mechanism that signals hunger signals dehydration. You will be provided water, so take it. REmember, avoid brightly colored plants and such for nutrition. Keep your head about you and don't give in. Dont offer shit for info during the resistance phase.
