myth #2 got me confused though because some in this forum say they take 2 grams per bodyweight or more. and i knew pw shake is suppose to have carbs but 3x as much as protein?

Depends on if you're measuring bodyweight in kilos or pounds. There are 2.2 (and change) kilos to a pound. So if you weigh 200 lbs, that's 90.9 kilos. 2 grams of protein x 90K = 180g of protein, which is pretty close to 200 (lbs) x 1g, or even closer (exact) at 200 x .9g = 180. The math would probably work pretty closely at any weight because it's simply multiplying or dividing by 2.

Bottom line, some recommendations are on bodyweight measured in kilos, some in pounds. Whatever works for you. Being in the US, I prefer pounds. At 225 lbs, I shoot for 200-250g of protein, which is .88-1.1g of protein/lb.

And the 3x more carbs than protein is nonsense, imo. There is a thread about pwo shakes here.

I eat over 2g per lb of body weight. I like protein better than carbs.

I am a firm beliver in that body composition should be a factor in determing protein requiements. to say that a person at 200 lbs and 30% body fats needs the same amount of protein as a person at 200 lbs and 10% body fat is rediculous. I use LBM not total BW in determing protein requirements.

I usually have more PW carbs than Protein

1.5-2 grams per lb of LBM.

when bulking/maintenance I might get 35-40% of my cals from protein but the lower my cals go when cutting the higher my protein intake becomes (to increase nitrogen retention) so I work my way up to 2 grams per lb of LBM then.

Right now I might average 325 grams of protein a day and I weigh 250+ @ 11% right now so that's about 1.3 grams per lb of LBM. but all I do is weight train.

a person who is envolved in competitive sports and resistance training and is trying to gain LBM would most likely have to go higher in protein 2 grams per lb of LBM (or non-fat) due to the increased rate of muscle protein turnover...
