The rumor mill is heating up on this. Apparently, Jason Varitek's demands are very high and unreasonable and the Sox are not about to play games with his agent. So, Troy Glaus is rumored to be the replacement in the lineup. Glaus says Boston would be a great fit for him. He'd kill at Fenway.

Also, Peter Gammons and Tim Kirkjian both think Pedro and Carl Pavano will both end up in Boston.

you think pedro will stay? i think if anyone he will have some enormous expectations of money. and only one man can afford him......george steinbrener.

I personally think Pedro will be back. I think he just wants to see what other offers he gets so he knows the Sox are not trying to shortchange him. Rumor has it Pedro is not a real hot commodity right now and only two or three teams are interested (Boston, NYY, Anaheim, possibly St Louis).

Down 0-3 to the Yankees, I started thinking about possibile line-up changes for 2005. That line-up included Troy Glaus. There is no telling how many home runs and doubles he'd have off the monstah. He'd be perfect in that five hole after Manny and Ortiz.

Pavano wants to come to Boston and I think he will.

I just cant see Boston letting this guy go he is just too valueble , they should reward all of these players with the money they deserve. They did what was thought to be impossible.

I think Troy Glaus hould be "plan B", with "plan A" being re-signing Varitek. Glaus has a better bat, but the Sox have a good 3rd baseman in Bill Mueller and Varitek is obviously a rock behing the plate as well as a team leader.

They were the best team in baseball. They did what a team with that talent should have done. Also, how on earth does Jason Varitek deserve a guaranteed fifty million dollars over five years.
