Last week after failing on a heavy squat I awoke the next day to find my back a bit sore. I figured it was no problem, just a pulled muscle, and that it would go away in a day or two.

Well, two days went by and I only felt worse and worse. I had a kidney infection years ago so I knew what one felt like. The pain in my back definitely felt like a kidney infection so I went to the ER to get some medical help. Usually one little prescription can take care of it.

After three hours, the doctor came back to tell me that I had a mild kidney infection. He told me to rest for a day, take some pilles he prescribed me, and then I would be fine.

When I got home and started taking the prescribed medicine things really started going downhill. I couldn't keep the pills down as they'd make me puke violently, and they made my back hurt worse and worse. So, the next day, I took a trip back to the ER so they could prescribe me something different.

The doctor refused to prescribe me anything different unless I allowed them to do blood work on me. They told me that they had found some odd things in my urine from the previous day so they wanted to check it out a bit more. Why they didn't tell me they found weird things in my piss the day before is beyond me.

Anyhow, after having blood drawn and analyzed, the doctor came back to tell me some surprising news. I have hepatitis! On top of that, I also have a kidney infection and a pulled muscle in my back. As you can guess, I'm in a bit of pain as I write this.

While I was talking to the doctor about how I could have possibly contracted hepatitis, I informed him that I run cycles of anabolic steroids. However, I made sure to tell him that I'm not on any oral steroids at the moment. To my shock, he told me that even injectibles are tough on the liver. I could have sworn I've read numerous places that injectibles don't do much damage to the liver and kidneys. Anyway, I didn't debate it with him.

To clarify what I'm running right now, I was running 500 mg's a week of test but upped it to 700 mg's two weeks ago. No orals.

Have any of you guys heard about 'roids (injectables only) causing hepatitis? This sucks bad and I don't know if I should finish my cycle or stop completely. The cause of my hepatitis is unknown and it could have come from something other than the gear.

Any advice? I'm thinking it's time to play it safe and cut my cycle short until I'm 100% better.

That sucks man

but I haven't seen anything about taxed liver either, but everyone is different in terms of how much the liver is hit. There have been guys doing 80+mg of dbol who blood test within normal range, yet others hardly touch orals for months and come back with high values (one guy who was on test for over a year tested high).

Ah, yes. I should add that I never drink, don't smoke, and the only "drug" that I put in my body is test as of right now.

The doctors have no idea what prompted me to get so sick so fast, and I don't really know either. It could be my upping the test from 500 to 700, but it's hard to say. There are literally a million things that could have caused it. In fact, one doctor surprised me when he told me that drinking a lot of milk can sometimes cause hepatitis. I drink like a gallon of milk every two days.

This sucks, bad. I guess the safe thing to do is cut my cycle short, wait a few weeks, start PCT, and then start another cycle months from now when I'm confident that I'm back to 100%.

Valuable lesson learned in all of this: When on a cycle, have a local physician on hand to check your levels from time to time so you don't end up messing up your body.

Do you know which type of Hep you have? B or C. One can come from blood transfusions, sharing dirty needles ect. One comes from from contaiminated food(A).

You can also get Hep B/C from unprotected sex from a person who is infected.

The only way he could have gotten Hep from steriods is from someone that used unsanitary or contaiminated needles to process the vials. If everything was clean, it came from another source.

hep A and B are most common , hep A from contaminated food, hep B from contaminated blood or needles and sex. hep c , d and e are more rarer . hepatitis is usually caused by bacteria, virus and parasites.

Hey Ant I feel your pain brother...I have Hep A and just about over it...my liver values are getting better every time I get tested. I got it from eating food after some sick fuck (probably fast food) didn't wash his hands after shitting....yeah....well I have been dealing with lethargy,depression,hot flashes, dizzyness, increased anxiety, feeling weak, and shitting my brains out for the past 4 months. I am just about better now. My liver values have got better even while on test cycle...so I doubt the test messed you up....You didn't mention what you type of Hep it is that you have. If its A you ate something prepared by a shitty (no pun) person....B and C are the worse forms that can kill you....caused by sex and sharing needles....and or exchange of blood. Anyways good luck bro...I don't know if stopping the test is going to help you...might actually make it harder to get over...don't know for sure cause I'm no doctor...when you give more info maybe I can help further...good luck

I won't know for another day or two if I have A, B, or C. My blood is still in the lab being processed and the doctor told me they'd let me know when they got the results. So, for now, all they can tell me is I have hepatitis. If I had to guess I'd say I have A, since it's more common. I doubt I'd have C.

When they told me that even injectables such as testosterone can strain the liver and maybe cause hepatitis I was totally shocked. I wasn't about to argue with a doctor, but it seemed a bit suspect to me as injectables don't pass through the digestive system that I know of.

They gave me a ton of pills to take and I'm feeling a lot better already. Could be another week or two before I'm good enough to hit the gym, though.

Damn EA, that sucks. I really doubt it was the test. Most doctors are the last ones to ask about the side effects of gear. I'm betting you got hep A.

Hey Ant chances are you ate out and got Hep A....look at it on the bright side once you had you can't get it again...your body will build anti-bodies to make sure of that...you'll be immune for life. The thing that sucks is no matter how many pills your doctor gives you it won't speed up the process...it may make your life a little more comfortable...but thats it. Some people get it worse then others. Matter fact I was told that some people get it and just feel like they got the flu for a couple weeks then its over for them...then you've got someone like me thats been struggling with the side effects of it for 4 months now.....before my doctor knew what was causing my liver enzymes to be elevated she told me to stop taking my Whey shakes, flax oil, and all vitamins....thats CRAZY....if a doctor is going to tell me all these healthy things could be causing my liver to fuck up its no wonder they would tell you the test is causing your liver to be messed up. The whole idea of using injectibles is so they do not tax your liver like orals do....so I think your doctor is just trying to cover his/her ass by telling you to stop everything. Cause if he/she didn't tell you and you died it could be their ass on the chopping block.

dont think hep is caused by liver strain , it is inflammed liver but meant to be off virus or bacteria. hep b and c are viral infections.

Hey, thanks for all the support, guys. I really appreciate it. I've been taking my meds as directed and I feel great today. Not 100% better, but damn close. Another day or two and I'll be back in business. I plan on getting a light workout in today if my body can handle it. I can't wait to get back in the gym. I've been laying in bed for three days feeling like a lazy sack of crap.

Think it's safe for me to continue my cycle or should I ditch it for now? I'm still undecided on that.

If your on test only I wouldn't stop it yet. Your doctor is going to monitor your liver enzymes every month for a while. That is what mine did. As I've mentioned my doctor told me to stop all supplements and to not drink a drop of alcohol. Well I didn't stop taking any of the supplements because I didn't see how it was going to logically hurt me, and I still drank socially. Each time I had my liver checked it kept getting better. A few weeks ago my liver was checked and it was a cunt hair above normal. I am supposed to get tested again after the new year. So in short its your call if you stop the cycle...I don't think you should....my worry would be that you will feel more shitty if you stop the cycle.

TOXIC HEPATITIS AND DRUG-INDUCED HEPATITIS
Certain chemicals have toxic effects on the liver and when taken by mouth or injected parenterally(Taken into the body or administered in a manner other than through the digestive tract, as by intravenous or intramuscular injection.) produce acute liver cell necrosis, or toxic hepatitis. The chemicals most commonly implicated in this disease are carbon tetrachloride, phosphorus, chloroform, and gold compounds. These substances are true hepatotoxins. Many medications may induce hepatitis but and sensitizing rather than toxic. The result, drug-induced hepatitis, is similar to acute viral hepatitis; however, parenchymal destruction tends to be more extensive. Some examples of medications that can lead to hepatitis are isoniazid, halothane, acetaminophen, and certain antibiotics, antimetabolites, and anesthetic agents.

TOXIC HEPATITIS: MANIFESTATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

Toxic hepatitis resembles viral hepatitis in onset. Obtaining a history of exposure to hepatotoxic chemicals, medications, or other agents assists in early initiation of treatment and removal of the offending agent. Anorexia, nausea, and vomiting are the usual symptoms (as ant displayed after taking doctors medications); jaundice and hepatomegaly are noted on physical assessment. Symptoms are more intense for the more severely toxic patient. Recovery from acute toxic hepatitis is rapid if the hepatotoxin is identified early and removed or if exposure to the agent has been limited. Recovery, however, is unlikely if there is a prolonged period between exposure and onset of symptoms. There are no effective antidotes (yes milkthistle was my first thought - but read the sentence before. milk thistle will prevent liver damage. once it is already damaged, your fucked.). The fever rises; the patient becomes very toxic and prostrated. Vomiting may be persistent, with the emesis containing blood. Clotting abnormalities may be severe, and hemorrhages may appear under the skin. The severe gastrointestinal symptoms may lead to vascular collapse. Delirium, coma, and convulsions develop, and within a few days the patient usually dies of fulminant hepatic failure. Short of liver transplantation, few treatment options are available.
Therapy is directed toward restoring and maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance, blood replacement, and provision of comfort and supportive measures. A few patients recover from acute toxic hepatitis only to develop chronic liver disease(acute disease : Having a rapid onset and following a short but severe course - This could be like a 4 week dbol cyle were you POUND your body with it. maybe a past cycle is fucking you over now?). In the event that the liver heals, there may be scarring, followed by postnecrotic cirrhosis.

DRUG-INDUCED HEPATITIS: MANIFESTATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

Medication-induced hepatitis is responsible for up to 25% of cases of fulminant hepatic failure in the United States. Manifestations of sensitivity to a medication may occur on the first day of its use or not until several months later, depending on the medication. Usually, the onset is abrupt, with chills, fever, rash, pruritis, arthralgia, anorexia, and nausea. Later, there may be jaundice and dark urine and an enlarged and tender liver. When the offending medication is withdrawn, symptoms may gradually subside. Reactions may be severe, however, and even fatal, even though the medication is stopped. If fever, rash, or pruritis occurs from any medication, its use should be stopped immediately.

Although any medication can affect liver function, those most commonly associated with liver injury include but are not limited to anesthetic agents, medications used to trat rheumatic and musculoskeletal disease, antidepressants, psychotropic medications, anticonvulsants, and antituberculosis agents.

Halothane (Fluothane), a commonly used nonexplosive inhalation anesthetic, may cause serious, and sometimes fatal, liver damage; therefore, its use is contraindicated in (1) patients with known liver disease; (2) repeated instances, particularly in patients who have had a fever of unknown cause after the first administration of halothane; and (3) patients with evidence of prior sensitization. Such sensitization would have been evident during the second postoperative week, with such manifestations as fever, rash, eosinophilia, arthralgia, or jaundice.

Interesting read!

It seems to me that if I had chemical hepatitis it wouldn't go away with antibiotics, you know? My logic is that if it were damaged because of the gear I'm on I wouldn't have an infection, I'd have permanent damage that wouldn't go away within a few days after taking some medicine. Make any sense?

Hard to say if my hepatitis is due to 'roids or not. I'm leaning towards not, but then, I'm not a doctor.

I would call them ASAP...you do need to know what you have....and blood work should never take more then 24 hours to get results back from...mine never did...so get on their ass otherwise they will take their sweet time.

Just seems to me that if my liver was damaged that badly then antibiotics wouldn't heal it. I've only been on antibiotics for three or four days but I feel way better and even got a great workout in today.

I'll call the hospital or just drive over (it's like two miles away) tonight and ask what's up with my results.

ant what you dont understand is that you might be doing serious damage and not even be knowing it! you could have been experiencing the pain exclusivly from the kidney infection, and not even having any symptoms of hep. and those pills could be curing your kidney, making you think its better. id be very careful bro. verrryyy careful. if you read what i posted is that acute toxic hep can cause permanant liver damage, even when you dont have the hep anymore.

I've heard rumors that my local hospital sucks and now I can say that the rumors are definitely true.

After not hearing anything back about my blood work, I decided to take a trip over to the hospital to find out what was going on. Last I knew they were suppose to call me to let me know if I had hepatitis A, B, or C. Since they didn't call I thought I'd be best if I went and bugged them in person.

So, I get to the hospital and wait while the nurse retrieves my file. She hands me an envelope containing my records so I thank her and head out to my car to read them and find out exactly what is wrong with me. Problem is, when I get to my car and check out my paperwork it's all so complicated you'd have to be a doctor to understand any of it. They had almost every value of my body listed, such as sodium, potassium, creatine, etc. They also had listed the various types of hepatitis I was tested for but all of them read "+non reac" which meant nothing to me. I went back into the hospital and asked to see somebody who could explain what I was looking at. A nurse went and got a doctor for me. He was a really nice guy and he was happy to check out my paperwork. I told him that a few days ago I was diagnosed with hepatitis and wanted to know what kind I had. After looking at my results for a few minutes he told me I more than likely don't have hepatitis. My liver enzymes were a bit high, but probably not indicative of hepatitis. He told me I probably just had a kidney infection and nothing more, but there was a slight chance I could have hepatitis.

At this point I was getting pretty pissed. He was basically telling me that the previous doctor who looked at me misdiagnosed me with hepatitis when in fact it wasn't even certain that I had it. My liver enzymes were a bit high, but that doesn't necessarily mean hepatitis. I couldn't help but wonder if my previous doctor was half-retarded since he was also the same guy that prescribed me medicine that made me majorly sick.

Anyway, the guy went on to explain liver enzyme counts to me and he was surprised to learn that anabolic steroids can raise them. He told me that he didn't know anything about steroids and that he'd love to ask me a few questions about them. So, we exchanged knowledge for a bit and we both learned a few things. I learned about liver enzymes and he learned a little bit about anabolic steroid use. I was surprised that a doctor knew so little about them.

Long story short, one doctor told me I had a urinary tract infection, another doctor told me I had hepatitis, and yet another doctor told me I had a basic kidney infection and nothing more. Three different diagnosis' by three different doctors. I don't know which one to believe but the last doctor seemed the most trustworthy. He recommended I get a local physician immediately and check my liver values again soon. He didn't think I had hepatitis as of now, but I could down the road so he advised me to keep an eye on my liver.

I can't believe how bad this hospital sucks. Between them forgetting about my urine sample and leaving it alone and unsupervised in the lab for an hour and a half, prescribing me the wrong medicine that made me worse, and then having three different doctors give me three different diagnosis', I'm not too impressed with the place.

I guess in the end it's good news to learn that I probably don't have hepatitis. My kidney infection, if that's even what it was, is gone and I feel much better now. I'll contact a local physician to check up on me every couple of months but for now I'm going to continue with my cycle. My chart said that I was in perfect health except for this little setback with my kidney. Other than that my cholesterol and blood pressure are fine.

Thats great news Ant! My doctor is a freaking looney toon as well. So I am going to be getting a new one soon. She wants to take me off my Xanax when its working for my anxiety and put me on something called Buspar. I still have enough Xanax to last a while and I'm not going to take Buspar after speaking with my pharmacist. So there are doctors all over that don't know their heads from their ass. I would wait two months and go back and get your liver checked again....your enzymes could have been elevated due to the infection, also I've been told that high intake of protein can cause slightly elevated levels.

Yup! One thing I've learned in all this is that even with eight years of school a person can still be an idiot. One of the doctors who checked me out looked totally high. He's the same retard who diagnosed me with two things that I didn't even have.

I know a guy that even on 15mg of dbol says he bloats up like a chipmunk, I am not like that. So for some the water gains may be abnormally high, but if your diet is on point dont expect to lose a lot.

I'm not to familiar with the subject, but I was watching either 20/20 or Dateline or something and they had something on doctors receive certain 'perks' from manufacturing companies for prescribing their medicines..

So the antibiotics they prescribed you were for treating the Kidney bacterial infection. Did you do a research on the meds you are taking?

I did some research on the first medicine I was prescribed which was sulfa. That stuff made me so sick I seriously thought I was going to die. From what I read online a lot of people have adverse reactions to it.

The new stuff they gave me was cipro, and I didn't do much research on it as I spent most of my time in bed. All I know is that stuff cleared me right up! It's used to treat kidney infections and really does the trick. I wish they prescribed that to me in the first place instead of that sulfa crap.

Thanks man. It made me violently ill as well. I wasn't too impressed when I was puking so bad I thought I was going to pass out. What sucks worse is I hadn't eaten anything so there was nothing to vomit which made it hurt worse. Dry heaves suck.

Buspar is an Anxiolytic but it doesn't create dependance. Maybe that's ur doctor wanted to take you out of benzos. Buspar will make you very horny though^^

If its not hep c i would not get to worked up. you can get hep from a porto john, unless its c and that is from needles only
