whats a good prework drink/food/snack if one is hungry befoer a workout.. or should one go on a an empty stomach?

w8lifter will yell at you if you workout on an empty stomach!

carbs - oatmeal, cream of wheat, whole wheat bagel - SOMETHING!

i thought so hehe... but i was just making sure.. i guess i am going to grab a bagel from the shop before i go to the gym

You'll need fuel (carbs) to get a good workout. Go with something complex and low on the Glycemic Index. Something too simple, high on the GI will deplete and you'll run out of juice before your workout is complete. It also messes with your insulin levels (blood sugar levels) You want stability during your workout. Not highs and lows. IMHO OCICBW

I hope this is right...... It sure sounded good as I was typing it, but ask the experts. They'll be around soon.

I had a nice big cup of coffee before my last legs workout. That was one of the best legs workouts I've had yet!

You're best off with mostly simple carbs, some complex.

You're body is not going to absorb much, so mostly simple for energy IMO.

It's the disclaimer: Of Course I Could Be Wrong.

To add to my original answer. I've been cooking a sweet potato, and eating that 1/2 hr. before I go to the gym. Usually 2hrs before workout I've eaten lunch. (Tuna or steak, veggies. etc)

you better eat something light before hitting IRON....





Sometimes what I like to eat is a banana and a cup of yogurt 30 min before lifting or, just throwing those 2 ingredients in a blender with some protein powder...that works for me...simple and to the point.

Prince brings up a good point...if you are eating immediately before training, simple carbs are better, if however it will be an our or more before I'd go w/ complex carbs.

hmm a protein shake 2 hours before.. how do i do that may i ask?? i want to go from class to working out.. is there anyway i can put the drink in some kinda of countainer?? gotta remember i dont' have a refrigator anywhere on campus

Yes make the shake before class, put some ice cubes in it, put it in a shaker bottle and take it with u , have it 2 hours before you hit the gym, they also sell ready to drink shakes at many stores u can go that route too
