My Dad and I have been arguin over this for months, every time I try and eat clean and have six meals a da he says that it's not natural and that i will turn into a freak and become over weight. Can someone post the pro's and cons of having either 3-4 standard meals and 6-8 normal meals

If your eatting 6 small meals a day, the chances are those meals contain a protein source, a carb source and veggies, your body burns more efficently and doens't think it is in a starving state.

Your not gonna turn into a freak eatting smaller meals. You'll probably end up being more healthy than your Dad.

Our society has made us feel that we have to have only 3 meals a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner....if you think of the so called balanced meals that are prepared, most are not too healthy. Loaded with carbs and sugar stuff that sticks to our butts and guts.

Ask your dad this: Why eat 3 BIG FATTY meals where you can eat 5-6 small healthy meals?

If the meals in a 6 meal per day diet plan have half the caloric content that your average meal would on the standard American diet (3 meal per day), then the total calories eaten by the end of the day are equivalent. The difference is that your metabolism is increased when you eat more frequently. As well, your body is less likely to save excess calories in your fat stores because you stave off your body's natural instinct to protect against potential starvation.

Tell your dad to do some research. He is ignorant like most people. At work, all kinds of people tell me that I'm going to get fat if I keep eating like I do. I then attempt to explain to them why that is a load of crap, but it often fails.

leg press i feel what your saying, i must be the only person i know (apart from a few guys at the gym that actually know what they are doing) that eats more than 3 meals a day (all my flatmates eat 2 meals a day, they skip breakfast don't they!)

its terrible man, everyone is so undereducated in health and nutrition over here and doubt it will change soon, goverment would really piss companies off if they were saying workers needed 3 lunchbreaks a day instead of 1

breakfast, lunch, dinner... everyone just assumes that is how you MUST eat your food! same with cereal is for breakfast, sandwiches are for lunch and cooked meals are for the evening.. now thats my Dad! I ain't even gonna try!!
