Is that the guy with the flame shirt and mushmouth hat?

1005

1005, so what? I rep 1005 for closegrip.

alls i have to say is WOW

Posted by: aztecwolf

i could hit a 1005 lb. bench, but it would probably hurt my hand a little

Posted by: Flex

i wonder how his strength is compared to ronnie's...
Ronnie can do 250lb 75x's. i think that's almost just as impressive.

As far as squat, what's the powerlifting record?
Platz did 500lb 23x's, which isn't TOO shabby...

Not TOO shabby at all

I read Ronnie could do 225x75, which is a raw bench of somewhere in the 700s IIRC which is almost impossible to believe, but who knows. Right now the raw bench record belongs to a 400 pound guy who put up 711.

The squat record is not yet 1200 I dont think, Mule attempted 1175 recently but didn't go deep enough and he knew it right when he came up. We'd have to go to SNF for this one or else I would have to spend 5 minutes to look it up

I have the Platz video, you can see some other 'big names' in the clip as well.

I pretty much covered that when I said, "no video yet sorry."

there you can see the 1005 bench

Pretty impressive - although the guys hanging on to both ends of the bar might have helped a bit. I can't even imagine holding 1005 pounds over myself, let alone moving it.

I'm not too familiar with powerlifting - do they have different events for guys that do the lift without all the aids (bench shirts, etc.)? Do powerlifters who use aids look down on those who don't or vice-versa? Kind of like "natural" bodybuilders vs. those who obviously use gear...

225x75, that's what i meant for Ronnie...

What's raw bench? No bench shirt?

That's incredible. The sheer amount of pain that he must've endured.

If I tried that, I would have thrown up my lower intestine!

Shirted or not, pushing 1005 lbs is a feat.

The Platz vid is amazing also, i would of broke down and started crying well before 23.

There are drug tested PLs, but there are plenty who cheat just like anywhere else. There are also raw lifters yes, but its pretty rare because its not safe - raw benching is done at the Arnold, not sure about every year but Chabot competed there at least once. I have a clip of him doing 675 raw and he fires it up FAST, his personal best is just under 700 and shirted he litterally only puts on about 25-30 pounds. He is using poly which is probably a mistake, most of the big guys like him use double denim, poly flexes too much.

I wish there was more recognition for raw lifters. If I can't lift it raw, then I can't lift it. That's the way I look at it. Fuck straps, wraps, belts, shirts, and suits.

There is cash at the Arnold if you dont mind using special supplements to get there. I'm not sure if they do that stuff at the GNC Show of Strength but they might.

Glen Chabot is one of the top raw benchers right now, he tore his pec twice. These guys push so much that the shirts allow them to be pretty safe.
