as i said in my noob post i've just started lifiting regularly again for about 6 weeks after about a 2 year break. I changed some stuff up and am now suprisingly making more gains in the past 6 weeks than i ever have before. part of it i think is that i'm actually sticking to a diet i like but i still need more protein. my regular food intake gets me about 50-60g protein, it's reasonably low in fat, moderate in carbs and about 1000cals. i made the most gains using a protein powder i picked up that got me into the 2100 cals/ 150g protein a day range, but it didn't taste good at all. so basically can ya'll recommend a protein powder or meal replacement that tastes good, will give me btw 2000-2200cals/170-200g protein a day(this includes my regualr meals) and is reasonably priced. there's so many out there it's hard to know what is really good. thanks

what are you eating? 200g of protein per day is easy to get through real food.

yeah, but i still live at home and don't have a lot of money to spend on groceries...but i mainly eat egg beaters, tuna sandwiches, these low carb french bread pizzas i found that have 27g protein and about 340cals, and then i have whatever is for dinner...that's why i like to have the meal replacement protein drinks. i don't really like to eat a lot.

yeah, i kind of have a limited income right now, limited in the fact that i just quit my job and am looking for a new one. so ya'll got any tips on how i can get more protein?

using whole eggs & milk is a cheap way to get in a lot of protein.

How much do you weigh? If you are on 2000 calorie a day diet, I'd guess you're probably 150 pounds...150 grams of protein should be enough for someone of your weight, and that would be if all 150 pounds of you was lean muscle...

dang, i'm actually 190, that's why i'm trying to up my protein, i want to get a little bigger than i am now but not huge, i'd like to stay at or around 185-190, that's why i'm limiting my calories to 2000-2500.

If you want to get bigger you won't do it with 2000 calories a day my friend. You'll lose weight, I'd assume.

so about how many calories should i be taking in? also, the 2 days a week i don't lift should i not eat as much since i not really using it? I 've never known too much about nutrition so that's where i need the most help.

You're lifting 5 days a week? How long do the workouts last?

Your body recovers and supercompensates on days off, so it would be wise to eat on those days..

my workouts are generally about an hour to an hour and a half.
