hey guys i have a question thats been bothering me for a few days and i cant get any straight answers.

i lift my biceps, and my shoulders to failure on he same day.. then the next morning my biceps are sore, but my shoulders arent.

im sure that my shoulders are growing, but i just want to make sure..

if im not sore the next morning, doesnt that mean that i didnt work the muscle well enough?

thanks guys..

not at all. some muscles are more susceptable to DOMS than others...

Very rarely do I get DOMS in my delts, forearms or calfs. And I burn them with super sets every 4th week. I tend to get DOMS in my quads, hams, bis, tris, back, rear delts and chest. In fact it is most consistant in my quads and chest. The others are mostly on power week and shock week. My gut feeling is that the muscles with greater slow twitch fibers tend to get DOMS less frequently (forearms, calfs, and delts). At least that has beem my experience. Although DOMS is an indicator of working a muscle, lack of DOMS does not mean the mucsle is not getting worked or not growing.

If the muscle is growing and strengthening, then you have worked it plenty.

conversely...if you experience DOMS....is that a surefire indicator that the muscle is growing and strengthening?

No. If you don't supply the body with the amino acids necessary to repair the muscle, and enough energy to shuttle these amino acids to the muscle, then it isn't going to grow.

if your muscle doesn't get DOMS doesn't necessarily mean you didn't work them, but if they get DOMS, that means you'v DEFINITELY worked them, it's an extra thing that comes with working out, you shouldn't aim for DOMS, but it does happen, and it's not a bad thing.
I rarely get DOMS in my medial delts, but I get DOMS in EVERY other body part (besides forearms) after every single workout.

Not necessarily...you can get lactic acid burn by doing enormously high reps with virtually no weight...this can cause DOMS and give you that famous burn but it doesn't necessarily mean you stimulated muscle growth...

I used to jog a lot and would get a huge amount of DOMs the following but that certainly doesn't mean my legs were growing as a result of it.

What is "DOMS" an acronym for? I've been wondering that for months but have been too lazy to ask.
