hey, i was wondering if brown sugar is as bad for you as normal white sugar is?, I like to put a little bit of brown sugar on my oatmeal so does that add any bad effects?

LOL - Oh yeah, it's just as bad as table sugar! Not a good choice. Try cinnamon and splenda instead.

Or honey, better GI index. Brown sugar is still sugar, too bad, tastes great in oatmeal.

brown sugar is sucrose (table sugar) coated with mollases

If GI is the concern, than don't worry about sucrose or brown sugar. The problem you run into with these is just adding extra calories with no nutrient value.

Sure, but if someone is going to want it to be sweet and are not going to use an artificial sweetner, then honey would be one way to go better than table sugar.

Fructose would be another option for those that don't want artificial sweeteners.

Some dried fruit would also be an option - raisins, saltana's, apples, apricots...
