I read an aticle in M&D mag last issue of last month. That talked about the downside to goin to failure everytime and that you don't have to go to failure to grow. Was wondering what all you guys thoughts were on that topic. How many of you go to failure with every excerise you do? Also doesn't goin to failure every time cause overtraining and injry? Your thougts??

I do not think it's necessary to go to failure to grow.
There are other techinques that can be used, such as increasing weight, additional sets, reps, etc., however training to failure is probably the most practical approach.

As a beginner, it is not necessary to go to failure in order to grow. The stimulus of lifting for more reps and/or more weight will be enough to make you grow. However, over time your body will become more resistant to making gains in size and strength. This is when you will need to push your muscles to failure and beyond to make gains. This increase in intensity will also make it necessary to decrease your volume somewhat, or you will offset your ability to grow by comprimising your recovery ability.
