I noticed that in the thread 'How much gear do you take?' that no one listed a HRM.
I always use one to keep me on track in any cardio workout. I don't like the grab the handle type HRM on treadmills and such. I use a Polar chest strap. Works great if the machine your on can read the chest strap signal.
I take it on my cardio mountain bike rides sometimes just to see how I'm doing.
So anyone else use one?

I've got one but don't use it much anymore. Once you get to know what your body's doing it becomes more of a pain in the ass.

I agree, it's a pain in the ass for the most part, lol.

I agree as well, once you "learn" your body it's not really necessary IMO.

Sorry I missed this before!!!
I'm a HUGE HRM fan. Your heart rate can tell you all sorts of things - like if your body needs more rest you can tell from your DELTA heart rate!
I use my HRM to interval train on cardio equipment. My perceived rate of exertion was always lower than it should have been!
If you haven't read it, I highly recommend the Sally Edwards book on Heart Rate Monitors for Indoor/Outdoor Cyclists (it will apply to any cardio though).
