What are your thoughts on this for breakfast, I saw it in the store the other day, a high protein version of Total, 14g of protein per 3/4 cup serving..

Posted by: 419Para_Dice

how much carbs, how much fat, what else is in it, how many calories.. how much does it cost? these are important factors in deturmaning the value of this stuff.

-Efrin

Posted by: Curlingcadys

7g carbs, 110 calories, 2.5g of fat (.5 polyunsaturated and 1.5 monounsaturated the other .5 ?), as far as what else is in it the list is too big its still Total cereal just revised total meaning total nutrition the majority of things 100%, cost depends where you live its just under $3 a box where I live, made a trip to North Carolina recently and it was over $4 there.

Posted by: 419Para_Dice

its less food and more calories to drink a shake, but less money and more yummy with the cereal. i think i am going to invest in the cereal, it makes me hungry just thinkin about it!

thanks for the info bro!

It's cereal, it's garbage! Why post a question what we feel about it if you are going to make a comment like this?

One I did want to hear peoples thoughts on what sapposed to be the "healthiest cereal" with all the nutrients and such, and 2 it was a joking comment hense the laughing icon after the post. I'll be sure to be more forward and put in bold letters JOKE when you're around my god, that time of the month? take a damn pill.

Posted by: sara

Newbies nowdays "NOT A JOKE"

Posted by: Curlingcadys

oh yes such a pain in the ass aren't we...
please.....

Posted by: sara

Posted by: Curlingcadys

right back atchya skag...

Posted by: sara

You know what? I really dont like you

Posted by: Curlingcadys

ya know I was liking you after you enlightened me about Total until you had to make your newbie comment like your so much better than me or anyone else who hasn't been on here as long as you...

Posted by: sara

Im not better than anyone else here.. Your comment to Jodi wasnt very nice

Posted by: Curlingcadys

I'll give you that I wasn't trying to be, I made joke basically from the stand point of totals comercials and such on how its sapposed to be the healthiest breakfast, and jodi basically had a spaz attack not comprehending the sarcasam in my post. She came at me unruley so I responded with the same. Being a Mod you'd think there would be a bit more tact but evidently not. But like I said still doesn't justify my comment but bluntly she pissed me off.

Posted by: Curlingcadys

Now back on the cereal subject, I am ignorant mind you cause I did think this cereal was great with all the protein how does being processed make it bad, clarify if you would.

Posted by: Jodi

Your comment didn't sound like a joke by any means. For if it did, I would have been sure to have just ignored this entire thread all together but your comment sounded rude towards sara and AS A MOD I was doing what I felt necessary to make you know that this sort of behaviour was uncalled for. So, if you don't like it or you don't like me, well, then, I really don't give a damn.

I will say it again, it's cereal, it's garbage. There are very few cereals out there that are any good and these are the best ones I'm aware of. 1. Fiber One, 2. Kashi Go Lean, 3. All Bran, 4. Uncle Sam
If you don't care about what goes in your body then fine, eat any cereal you please.

Well the only feedback I had gotten up until this "contraversial" joke was one who thought it was good and another that said read the ingredients, now someone like me who isnt totally up to speed with nutrition would look at the ingredients and think total is damn good especially with 14g of protein now, I mean 100% of over a dozen vitamins sounds pretty healthy I don't see how it can be total garbage, but thats what I'm looking for the reason its "garbage" sara said its processed, great! ellaborate how does this make something that "sounds" so nutritious bad for my body. Thats what I'm looking for.

As far as you Jodi I can't say I don't like you haven't had enough interaction to make that call, I can say you ticked me off but pissing people off is a part of life oh well. I have gotten a lot from your other posts so your obviously your knowledge has been a help.

Posted by: Jodi

List the ingredients and I will show you why it is not good.

Posted by: TCD

Girl got game.

Posted by: kvyd

This whole thread is kinda ridiculous. Odds are likely the cereal isnt that bad for you, it may not be the best choice. But to have this kind of a dispute over fucking cereal.

Posted by: BulkMeUp

Curlingcadys, just to clarify, are you basing your decision that it may be a good cereal by looking at the 'Nutrition data' on the box or the actual 'List of Ingredients'?

Posted by: ReelBigFish

Sara, that doesn't even make sense. What are you talking about? Sucralose is splenda and splenda is sucralose.

For cutting this cereal is not a good choice and cutters should stick to the basics of Fiber One, All Bran and Uncle Sam but if you are bulking I think its fine if you can get away with this one.

Thought so, when i read you say this :

In general always look at the ingredient list. Try and avoid anyproducts regularly where the list contains the words 'Hydrogenated' , 'hydrolyzed', 'shortening' (these are trans fats).... and/or plenty of sugars (words ending in 'ose'). And like Jodi said, cereals are not the best food choice.

I guess you primarily want the cereal for breakfast? Why dont you make your own breakfast. Total time to prepare, consume and wash up will be less than 5 mins. My daily breakfast is : oats + protein powder + skim milk. Throw in a blender. blend on high for several secs. Pour and drink. You could also add a fruit to it if you wish. Adjust the volumes to suit your cal needs.

yep, just plain old oats. The package should say 'oats' or 'rolled oats' . I havent tried the packeges that have fruits bits and flavouring in them. But probably not a good idea. Regular oats have 1g sugar per 40g, and those flavoured ones contain 12g. Check out their site for more nurtrition info.

If you need some fats in that meal, throw in some flax seed oil.

I try different flavours of protein powder to change the taste. As you are not used to this it can be quite filling at first. Also you need to get used to the taste of it. You may want to leave out the fruit in the beginning as it tends to trap a bit of air while blending and makes the shake larger in volume.

It will be a slightly grainy shake. Let it stand for a bit and it will soften. But not for too long. A bit of trial and error here.

If you are a big eater then go ahead and add the fruit. if you are a very big eater and feel hungry, you may want to consider cooking the oats before eating them as that will increase the volume and leave you really full.

LMAO!!

Holy Shit!! This thread started out so innocent and pure and then went quickly into the toilet over what??? Hell I was thinking this might be a great cereal but now I'm thinking I'll need to wear my kevlar if I decide to purchase it!!

So many people roaming around with a hair-trigger. Over one simple thread inquiring about a cereal. Crazy world I tell ya!!

Edit Added....... OK after reading the rest of the thread (didn't see there was a page 2) it seems we have decided to holster our proverbial pistols and play "friends". Good job My faith is restored!
