hi, i currently count my calories. i'm about to make a bean/barley recipe. i realize that beans and barley are both incomplete proteins, but when put together they make a complete protein. when adding up the protein totals, do i just add the 8g from the beans with the 5g from the barley, to total 13g? or should i count it as less, since both are incomplete proteins?
im planning on adding some chicken to the meal, but not too much, as im getting sick of eating the same thigns every day.
probly seems like a silly question, but it confuses me a bit. thanks for the help as always.

I don't have an answer, but you know? i was actually wondering something similar about lentils and brown rice recently...
it's when these things confuse me that I realize what a newb I really am sometimes! hahahaha!

Craig said, "Good Question! Hmmm..." He suggested taking some Amino Acids with it and count it as a complete protein.

Just count it all! Protein is still protein and when the 2 proteins are together its complete. Thinking about it could be just too confusing. Just make sure you get plenty of other proteins throughout the day. That's my opinion anyway.
