I've been reading that its good to have a little somthing before you rack out for the night and I see cottage cheese happens to be a popular choice, now personally cottage cheese makes me ill so my question is, is there such a thing as flavored cottage cheese? If there is would the "flavor" additives defeat the "healthiness" of it? If they don't whats an alternative that would be decent to have before bed? Thanks guys/gals

If there isn't an alternative I guess I'll have to suck it up but I hope there is..

there is flavored cc...Hood has strawberry, pineapple, pineapple/cherry. I'm not sure how much this changes the "health" part of it, but it certainly makes it taste good.

personally, i add either low sugar preserves or mixed fruit.

http://www.hphood.com/products/products.list.Cc.asp

but they have quite a bit of added sugar. a 1/2.c. of Lowfat has anywhere from 100 to 120 calories and about 15g. of sugar.

you could add sugar free jello

ummm I add Stevia and Cinnamon

I add one packet of splenda and some fruit...but I eat this earlier in the day. I guess it depends on your macros and what time you'll eat.

I add some Chocolate whey protein for the flavor and of some PB of course

I tried some of Walden's farm calorie free choc. syrup before and it was yummy

I eat the pineapple cottage cheese and love it. There's a little more sugar than your normal cottage cheese, and there is some added HFSP but I still love it and eat a pound a day.

cc + sf jello blended comes out really smooth and tasty, try it sometime, after you blend it, put it in the fridge and it will gel back up afterwards, comes out to the consistency of pudding, i eat a ton of this + pb every night. MMMM never miss ice cream with that. cc + pb + davinci frozen for about an hour is pretty damn good too.

how do you make it?

Posted by: DeadBolt

I either eat it:
plain
a packet of splenda and cinnamon(tastes like rice pudding)
add nat pb and mix well
or my new favorit...a packet of splenda and some celery...its like chips and salsa lol...scoop and munch!

sara, if your asking me, well then what you do is first make some jello, a full package, keep it in the fridge til its set, then add about 1-1.5 cups cc to your blender, sprinkle in some splenda if you want it sweeter, you can add fruit too, then dump in the jello, blend on high for about 30 seconds till its all nice and creamy, pour it out into a bowl and set back in the fridge for a couple of hours, trust me on this one, you'll love it, divide it up or eat the whole thing, hell its only about 200-300 cals depending on what kind of cc you use, follow it up with a tbsp or two of pb and youve got yourself quite a nice little meal before bed. beware though, sf jello has a little sodium in it, so you may want to use no salt added cc.

Now you saying you blend the the sugar free jello with the cottage cheese in a blended after its made and set?

did you try it? let me know what you thought.

Posted by: sara

No. didnt try it yet

Posted by: njc

Easy, mix it with yogurt.

CC has too much sodium IMO. So does processed meats...

you can buy no salt added cc Ive seen it at safeway, however, it tastes horrible compared to regular. Very bland.
