Creatine

I just started to take Carnitine cuz Dave Draper said you'll burn more fat if you do. I've read that Creatine is a pretty popular substance. Not sure if I should take it though cuz my main goal is to burn some fat and lose some weight. I've read that creatine supplementation causes an increase in lean muscle mass. Don't know if that is true or not. Also read that taking the stuff causes weight gain, something that I don't really want to happen. But I've also read that creatine supplementation increases the loss of body fat in conjunction with aerobic exercises. Now if that is true, then it's something I would want to take. What are your thoughts?

Creatine causes increases in LBM. Creatine causes you to hold a little water so you don't look quite so "cut," but personally I don't think it's a big deal unless you are about to do a contest.

Creatine does not burn fat, nor does it cause you to gain fat. When trying to gain lean muscle and lose fat, it is definitely a good choice to use creatine IMO.

As far as aerobic exercise goes, creatine helps more anaerobic, explosive movements like weight lifting. I read once that subjects doing long distance bike rides actually performed slightly WORSE when on creatine, as it is not intended for endurance exercise.

I don't know if that is a result consistently found or if it was just that one study. Regardless, creatine is geared towards explosive, anaerobic exercise like weight lifting. I could go into the biochemistry of why that is, but I doubt you want that.

So creatine will increase lean body mass and if lean body mass goes up then my weight will go up. I guess that would be okay if the extra weight was because of an increase in muscle. Now you said creatine does not burn fat yet you say that if you want to increase lean body mass and lose fat it's a good idea to use creatine. Then do I conclude that creatine itself won't burn fat but because it will add to your lean body mass(and that will burn fat) creatine helps burn fat indirectly?

Creatine will increase LBM, and adding to your LBM does not burn fat. Fat loss is dependent upon your diet and exercise program. To decrease your bf% drop your calorie intake, and increase cardio. There is no direct correlation between creatine intake and fatloss.
