I don't think the Pats will be considered underdogs based on what happened on both sides this weekend.

It may not happen, but I would love to see how Jim Johnson's defense matches up against the Pat's offense.

...WITH Corey Dillon this time.

Posted by: JerseyDevil

I hear ya bro. Not talking trash, just think it would be an interesting match up. I lived in Ohio when Corey Dillon was drafted by the Bengals in 97 (I think?). It was obvious even then, he was something special.

Posted by: Pepper

I am sooooooo sick of the Pats...but I think they will win next week and probably win the SB.

it's hard goddamn work bein' this good

if they win the SB, they should be considered the best team ever.

Michael Vick, like Dillon, is just amazing, but he is off and on. If TO is back and Westborook plays like today, the Eagles have a legitimate shot at taking the SB.

Did anyone see that carry by Dillon in the second half where he got stopped a yard past the line of scrimmage and ended up taking it to the 1 yard line. Christ that was amazing.

I'll add that Trotter needs to have another great game like he did yesterday if the Eagles have a chance against the Pats. But first they got to get by Atlanta...

Posted by: Dale Mabry

Yeah, Trotter has been eatin' 'em up.

A buddy of mine used to train Trotter's Minister a couple years back. Supposedly his minister was one of the reasons Reid was fed up with him, Trotter wanted him in any meeting he had with Reid, he also fronted $250,000 for a new church. Seemed like a nice enough guy to me.

they are supposed to some snow sat-sun in Philly. that will have a huge impact on the Eagles passing game if it's still snowing come game time. if it comes down to a running game the Eagles are history, they have no running game.

roethlisberger is overrated...

Posted by: BoneCrusher

We bitch slaped the Pats the first time we played them this year 34-20 ...

As far as the best team ever the Pats need another TWO rings to even equal the Steelers ... you need THREE more rings to beat the Steelers record and tie for the claim of best team ever Flex. But hey 2 aint bad. Not FOUR rings in SIX years like the Steelers. Chuck Noll was the winningest coach in SB history and the Steelers will still rank in holding a claim to an era of leadership in the NFL with a 4-1 record. The only two to best them are the Cowgirls with 5-3 and the 49'rs at 5-0.

All this BS about how bad BigBen did last week ...
Jets scored 1 touchdown from a kick return, ONE from a turnover, and 3 points from a field goal. The Jets were tough on D vs a dude with a thumb injury ... but that advantage is not gonna be there for the Pats.

Roethlisberger threw the shit outta that ball all season with an excellent comp percentage.

This will be a good game ... I'm gonna be either dancing through the house or kicking the cat.

If the Steelers take the Pats then no one else will stand in the way of a rookie QB earning a ring.

Someone on this site has to know if or which QB has done that before ... won the Superbowl as a 1st year rookie.

We'll see what happens with a healthy Dillon.

2 rings in 3 years, and ESPECIALLY 3 in 4 years nowadays is better than 4 outta 6 back then when there was MAYBE 4 good teams in the entire league.

Injured thumb or not, Pitt should send a bouquet to Doug Brien for even being in AFC championship

not to take anything away from the guy's winning, be he's overrated. Pitt sports a great D, and they run the ball more than anyone in the league, not to mention he had very few 200+yd games.

We had a level playing filed. Not as many teams as now with the succes of the expansion teams, nor as strong or skilled of a collection of players as a whole. But it was still the best the country could put on the field with a solid spread of teams. I'd stand Mean Joe Green up today and watch him earn. Terry Bradshaw would STILL rule if he were on the field and in his prime.

Bro I have so much regard for Brien ... he should have been given the MVP award from Pit for his performance at the end of the game. I wish he'd return my emails of thanks ... it hurt my feelings when my son Josh refused to allow me to call him "Dougie".

We were beat if he scored. His foot had no skill past the 40 and it was the Steeler's 'D that kept the Jets outta field-goal range.

We have a running game and a coach that uses it. It's why we are 16 and 1. "If it aint broke then don't fix it". If our ground and pound needs a break we go airborn. If BigBen looks shakey we use the runnig game. If that fails we still have Reed. The boy is reliable as he showed with that winning field-goal.

hopefully the latter
This weekend is gonna be fun ...

That's good cuz the Steelers will be bleeding black and gold when the Pats kick the snot out of them.

Posted by: SJ69

Pittsburgh has the best run D in the NFL, Dillon will be kept to under 100 yards.
The Bus and Staley will be combined for 150 yards.
This will be a good ol in your face, bulldog kind of game, which favors the boys from the Iron City.
Steelers win 23 - 17, then go on to beat Philly 27-24

That's impossible since neither team will be in the Super Bowl.

Posted by: SJ69

If it's the Pats and the Falcons then I'm gonna quit watchin football, fuk it.
Of course with 30 sec left in the Steelers Jets game, I told my wife "that's it, I'm done, F this, I ain't wastin my time anymore"

Posted by: SJ69

How the hell is Atlanta going to move the ball? Vick? No way, he's the most over rated QB in recent history. I'd take McNabb over Vic any day.
Did you see what the Eagles did to a better QB last week?

They beat a worse team, good QB or Bad.

I look at Pitt and NE as equal teams, but if the Pitt that played last week plays they will lose. I pick the Falcons in the second game because I don't think the Eagles receivers can catch a soggy football. If they stick with screens to Westbrook they can take it, but I don't think that is going to happen.

I would love to see a Patriots/Eagles Super Bowl, that way I can wear my Pats gear to the bar I will be watching the game at.

Posted by: BoneCrusher

Dale you can still wear the gear ... youll just be watching the Steelers. You have our permission ...

This is almost as good as the political threads

Pittsburgh's defense didn't allow a single offensive TD last week. If it wasn't for 3 bad plays the Jets wouldn't have even been in it.
Look at total yards, total defense and time of poss, it wasn't as bad as it seems.

OH GOD! Don't start that. If it wasn't for 2 missed FG's the Steelers wouldn't even be here.

I just can't wait for this game. We'll see Rothlisberger's true color come out...yellow.

That is precisely my point. They played like shit against a mediocre team and almost got beat. If they do that this weekend they will get blown out. New England's run defense is far superior to the Jets as well.

... Dale you know how long I've had to cheer the Steelers and watch them loose. What will you say if the Steelers win this weekend?

Posted by: Dale Mabry

I will say, "Holy shit, a snowballs chane in hell, go figure."

Nah, it is going to be a good game and would not be surprised to see either team win. If the Steelers win, I will be rooting for them against the Eagles, or rooting for Atlanta against them. The sad thing is, I do like the Eagles, but the fans are so obnoxious that I feel obligated to root against them.

Here's hoping for 2 GOOD games and no blow outs.

Your gonna need a shoulder to cry on when the Patriots lose, I won't be here.

But my man BoneCrusher will be!

Posted by: soxmuscle

Keep talking Jerome, you just got stuffed on top of fumbling the ball, you piece of shit. keep talking.

Posted by: Dale Mabry

Let's simmer down now.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Don't worry DM, I am very relaxed being up by three touchdowns.

Posted by: Flex

all you haters

See you in the Superbowl, bitches.

Posted by: LittleKid

Gosh Steelers got whooped, but they almost came back 3rd quarter.

I'll just be like the government and blame the loss on Ephedra & Prohormones.

Posted by: soxmuscle

There is no one to blame for this loss besides the Patriots being twice the team as the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are just a much, much better team.

Posted by: Dale Mabry

The QB was the difference in the game. There were 3 plays where Brady could have thrown a questionable pass but he took the sack. Roethlisberger had the same deal but he threw up 3 interceptions.

Nah.. Ephedra definatly had something to do with it!!!!!

They are a much better team AT THE moment, that'll change soon. Ben is a rookie, and imo being undefeated during reg season and going to your conference championship your first year is pretty amazing, he was bound to choke. I'm sick of Patriots winning & going to the superbowl, this won't happen but I hope Eagles win. I'll just go back to wishing we were still living in the early '90's.. you know when the Cowboys had Troy & we were kicking your ass's?

well, keep hopin' for the future. I'll be rootin' for our 3rd SB in 4 years.

and yes, Ben had a good season, but he was DEF overrated. I said that all year long, but no one listened cuz Pitt kept getting W's. we saw the REAL Ben the last 3 games of Pitt. The Ben that throws for less than 200yds. The one that throws for multiple INT's. Only the difference this game is their running game and Defense couldn't bail him out.

Posted by: BoneCrusher

The rookie got us whooped. 4 TO's ... WTF. Whawhawha. I guess the stress was more than he could bear ...

shoulda been like 6 TO's!

I don't think you can place all the blame on him, though. Bottom line in ANY sporting event, the winner is who makes plays. Thus the Patriots made more plays than Pitt. They drove the field and scored on the #1 defense all game long, meanwhile keeping Pitt's running game in check and hounding Ben all night.

Posted by: BoneCrusher

We kept Dillin way below stats. It was really BigBen that killed us. If he had

We both know the deal Flex. My boys got spanked.

Posted by: SJ69

welll we still got the Eagles, all you PA fans!!
E_A_G_L_E_S !!!!

The Pats are good. I think they will kick the Eagles pretty hard.

(even if they do wear very USFL'ish uniforms)
