ZMA Fuel?

Should a person under the age of 18 take ZMA Fuel? I'm 16 and I'm looking for something to boost my workout program. I would think that ZMA Fuel would be acceptbale for people under 18 because zinc and magnesium are in multivitamin products. But I just want to make sure. If I shouldn't be taking it, what are some products I can take that will boost my strength. Thanks for any info.

i take zma year round, eith zmass or acetabolin3, u could also take creatine, nitric oxide products, and methoxies are ok.

Posted by: footballmaniac

any side effects?

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

well creatine has some like bloating, but if u get the micronized version it is ok., the others are all good, nitric oxide increases nutrient transfer. creatine increase workout capacity, methoxies increrase nitrogen retention and protein synthesis, zma naturally raises testosterone levels.

Thanks. I read your other post. 6' 5" and 261. Damn. I could only hope that I could get that big. But I don't think my genes would let me grow to 6' 5", but you never know. Another question. Did you notice any increases in penis size when taking natural testosterone boosters? Just wanna give a little boost to the ladies.

lol - higher sex drive, nitric oxide increases size some - after like 3-4 weeks, due to increased blood flow, blood flow is not juss for muscle you know what i mean. lol. my genes are good but not like regulars, i mean i have to workout hard for them to grow, if i workout easy they dont- and i have to workout for them to grow, cant just set round and get big.

it might help you sleep better, that is about it.

ZMA is crap. Any significant strength gains seen while using it are purely placebo effect IMO

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

placebo effect, thats like saying creatine is the same or nitrogen oxide are like that, what about people who are low in these nutrients. this can help alot.

Not with strength gains. If you are deficient in a certain vitamin or mineral, supplementing with it helps you achieve homeostasis, not blow up like hulk. It may help you sleep, but you do not see an increase in natural testosterone levels with ZMA. Do you know what placebo effect means?

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

yes placebo is when you think of the results therefor your mind and body generates it

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

i dont believe in that

Not exactly, If you think of flying to the moon your body wont generate it. In this case, placebo effect would mean any positive effect felt while using ZMA would be automatically credited to it and not regular growth or the increase in mental confidence, which is simply due to the fact that you think the supplement you are taking is making you stronger.

Well it could be placebo effect. Or the fact that your a mutant. Your 17 years old, 6'5" and 261 lbs, did you grow up in Chernobyl?

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

lol- no i just did lots of farm work till i was bout 123 - then started lifting and eating right at bout the same time

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

i emant to say til i was 12,

Posted by: gococksDJS

I was just joking around man...

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

i know i didnt take it offensively

Posted by: Flakko

LOL, mutant, born in Chernobyl!!!

That's a good one.

I'm about to try one of those ZMA supplements, but I'm confused cuz I've received positive and negative feedback, so I decided to try by myself, but I'm 23 and 6'2" already, but since my surgery I lost around 12lbs, so I'm only 170 right now (Very skinny ). But I don't think I was born around any Nuclear plant.

you should take a science class, they will teach you about the placebo effect.

Posted by: footballmaniac

Well I think I'll just have to try and see myself. I'll keep my training schedule and supplement schedule the same for a month and see if I notice and difference. But I also heard you have to be on ZMA for awhile before it works so I might extend it. It would help me a lot for the sleeping part to. I can't fall asleep for shit.

There isn't one clinical study that shows increases in testosterone in healthy subjects. The one study that did show increases in test was heavily flawed.

Posted by: footballmaniac

How do you know they were flaw? Do you have a link?

http://www.supplementquality.com/z_askexpert/ZMA.html

There is no scientific evidence for any claim that ZMA has any effects beyond those of taking equivalent amounts of zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6 in any other form.
A study claiming that ZMA increases anabolic hormones and strength in athletes was conducted by L. R. Brilla, Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA, and V. Conte, BALCO Laboratories, Burlingame, CA.

While their results show statistically significant differences between the ZMA and placebo groups following 8 weeks of intensive training (higher testosterone levels and greater increases in strength) -- the study was significantly flawed.

The beginning levels of zinc and magnesium in these athletes' blood were already low. (Average serum zinc was 0.82 mcg/ml; deficiency threshold is 0.7 mcg/ml. Average serum magnesium was 19.6 mcg/dl; deficiency threshold is 16 mcg/dl.)

Increased exercise raises the body's need for zinc in a variety of ways. The fact that levels of zinc and magnesium dropped in the control groups' blood (to 0.8 mcg/ml of zinc and 18.0 mcg/dl of magnesium) shows that the increased exercise had this expected effect.

So both groups needed more of these essential minerals, probably even before the intensive training, but only one group got it.

What happened here can be understood if one thinks about the normal diet eaten by "members of the University football team" (the study's subjects). Their diet is probably low in zinc, magnesium and B6, if not actually deficient -- which is probably true for most unsupplemented people in the US. High protein intake (undoubtedly consumed by these football players) increases the need for B6, and zinc is particularly important for protein (muscle) synthesis.

Synergy of ZMA and other minerals and vitamins produce the "anabolic" effect. It doesnīt mean that ZMA does anything. It is like water, if you donīt drink it, you wonīt have the "anabolic" effect either.

Posted by: footballmaniac

Thanky you.

Posted by: gococksDJS

And redspy lays the smackdown once again...

Posted by: Tha Don

i take ZMA

helps me get a good nights sleep and prevents zinc defficiency, i believe its benefits on raising nat. test levels are over hyped

peace
