Hey guys. I know everyone is reviewing diets so I was hoping you could give mine a look. Feel free to correct anything or rip me a new one but please remember I am a broke college student on a meal plan in a dorm. I have to work with what I am served or can buy at a campus convience store. Also, it will be about a week till I can get the whey b/c I forgot it at home when i came back to school but I can get it next weekend. Thanks. BTW, i'm 6'4", 300lbs and have about 20% BF

8:00am - GNC Whey Protein Shake in water

9:30am - two slices whole wheat toast
2 eggs w/ pepper (cant do just egg whites b/c i'm on a meal plan at college and they wont do it)
water
11:30am - skinless chicken or fish (not sure of portion b/c of meal plan again but its not real big)
one serving of some kind of vegetables (meal plan usually has green beens or carrots)
water

1:15pm - 1 can of tuna with relish
bottle of water
3:30pm - same as 1:15 meal

5:30pm - pre-workout - GNC Whey Protein Shake in water
5g creatine
banana

6:00pm or 6:30pm (b/c of class) - GYM

7:30pm or 8:00pm - meal similar to 11:30am

may try some green tea in the evening before bed

IN ADDITION: to breakfast, lunch and dinner, i'll add vitamin c, calcium, and a multivitamin

why gnc brand, they rip you off hardcore, at mu gnc they want like 45.99 for 2lb nitro tech, in my magazine i can get 4 lbs for 41.99. or better yet i also use ompimum nutrition whey, it is 5 lbs for around 27, or 10 lbs for around 42, 5 lbs is 75 servings, 10 is 150

GNC is just what I happen to have. I'll look for better deals when I have used this up.

Posted by: NEW_IN_THE_GAME

ahh i see, i used to buy there then i found better deals, heres a hint go to the back of flex or muscle and fitness magazine and look for the nutrition companies, call em and they will ship you a free catalog

Cool, thanks for the info man.

Any more comments from others?

Make sure your post w/o gets some whey, creatine, carbs. I see the pre-, but you definitely need to saturate post- as well. Make sure the green tea at bedtime is caffeine free, or you will suffer unnecessarily. Otherwise looks pretty good!

Oh yeah, and shine GNC brand ASAP as previously stated.

Posted by: guitar_man04

Hey milwood, thanks for the info. Would it be ok to repeat the pre-workout meal after my workout? Other than price, is there any specific reason you guys are so against GNC like quality or ingredients?

what are the macros on your diet, sounds like your in a big caloric deficit for someone at 300lbs, look at something like the Cyclical Ketogenic Diet, and read the sticky on refeeds and leptin...Ive been trying for a little while and fell quite a difference. UT also has some kick ass salad bars and wraps down in the UC. And the GNCs here in knoxville carry a few different options than the chain GNCs, Amplify is a good Whey (cookies and cream)and they did sell it at the one next to the Big Orange Bi-Lo on Kingston next to Bellacinno's. Their Evolve creatine was also very good.

I'm folowing that diet as close as possible (had to do lean steak instead of chicken or fish) today since there is no class. Right now after the 1:15pm meal, I am at 1211 cals, 156.1g protein, 41.8g carbs, and 43g fat and thats without the whey b/c its back home. Hope thats good. lol As for the food at UT, I do get to the salad bar in the cafe but not at the UC b/c its free at the cafe thanks to scholorships. Thanks for the help though

BTW: I haven't been HUNGARY all day. I have to remind myself to eat which is VERY new to me. I hope I am doing this right b/c I know I can stick to this diet b/c I like what and when I am eating.

8:00am - GNC Whey Protein Shake in water

You need to add some EFA's here

9:30am - two slices whole wheat toast
2 eggs w/ pepper (cant do just egg whites b/c i'm on a meal plan at college and they wont do it)

Do they have cottage cheese? What about a glass of skim milk?

water
11:30am - skinless chicken or fish (not sure of portion b/c of meal plan again but its not real big) one serving of some kind of vegetables (meal plan usually has green beens or carrots)
water

Good but make sure it's green beans. Can you get some oatmeal?

1:15pm - 1 can of tuna with relish
bottle of water
3:30pm - same as 1:15 meal

Veggies? Efa's?

5:30pm - pre-workout - GNC Whey Protein Shake in water
5g creatine
banana

Skip the banana. Have an apple or grapefruit instead

6:00pm or 6:30pm (b/c of class) - GYM

7:30pm or 8:00pm - meal similar to 11:30am

You need some sort of carb PWO though. Brown rice, sweet potatoes, oats

may try some green tea in the evening before bed

I hope that's decaf tea

IN ADDITION: to breakfast, lunch and dinner, i'll add vitamin c, calcium, and a multivitamin

Your diet is lacking complex carbs, green veggies and EFA's. Please read the sticky's.

I made additional comments in bold.

Jodi, thanks for the input. I'll make the changes asap. As for the cottage cheese, should that be breakfast or lunch? I'm assuming breakfast but I don't think I can get it then b/c its on the salad bar which doesn't open till lunch. That ok? And as for the EFA's, would putting a tablespoon of flaxseed oil in my whey shakes cover that? Thanks for the help.

Posted by: Jodi

In general, it doesn't matter when. Cottage cheese is a good protein source any time of day except for PWO.

Please read the sticky title Guide to Cutting - You will learn what EFA's are as well as many other things on how to cut.

Got ya. Thanks for the help.

Well, the first day of dieting is done and I was crunching some numbers. I ate a little more at dinner than in my origional plan (extra green beans and some squash and mushrooms) and I am at 1854 calories. I figured my maintance to be around 3000 caloires. On one hand I am excited that I ate that few calories and was NOT hungry at all today and pretty much stayed full but that seems too few given my size. I'M CONFUSED.

BTW: I also hit 213g pro, 114g carbs, and 60g fat.
