Carb Blockers

I got free samples of these carb blocker pills that are supposed to prevent your body from absorbing a lot of the sugar in the carbs (or something to that effect). I was wondering if I shoudld take them. I mean, I have upwards of 200 grams of carbs per day, and it's causing me some serious water retention problems. I don't like the "going to bed bloated feeling", and I don't want to eat fewer carbs.

Should I take the pills, or just have some Coke or something after the carbs to pee out the excess water I'm retaining?

I'm not a fan of the carb blockers, per se, but rather supplements that can aid in the disposal of glucose to your muscles, in lieu of your fat cells, such as ALA/R+. There is a new supplement out there that is K-R+ which I heard works well too. Carb blockers, from my reading, only help in possibly minimizing the glycemic index of the CHO, but not shuttling them w/o being processed in your system, which is not true. You got them for free, use them if you want.

The best way to avoid carbs is simple, either don't eat them or, more importantly, don't eat high GI/GL carbs which will spike your blood sugar.

Jaime....You don't need any carb blockers. You need those to be absorbed due to you being to skinny.

Posted by: jaim91

Of course I am going to continue eating the carbs (low and high GI), I just don't want the water retention and bloating that goes with it. I was wondering if the blockers would help me with that.

Posted by: Jodi

No they won't help with water retention and bloating.

actually R+ala (glucorell, insopro, ect.) will help with bloating by reducing insulin.

Posted by: Jodi

Yes very much so I was responding to the carb blockers which will not.

ahh soo. it was not clear since above R+ was mentioned.

Posted by: jaim91

So where do I get the R+ala glucorell, insopro, ect.??

Posted by: Curlingcadys

Korexite....You HAVE to realize this girl is about as big as a damn toothpick. If she's holding water you would not be able to tell. she's TALL and TOO THIN as it is.

I did not see her pics.

Butthe point is still that high insulin levels, regardless of bodyfat, height, etc will lead to greater water retention.

Posted by: simbh

My advice is not worry about it jaim ... Really , just eat some clean carbs and you should be fine ... I don't know how much water you drink , but water does help put down some of the water retention ...

Posted by: jaim91

I eat clean carbs, and simple ones... You guys may not notice based on my pics, but I'm telling you, it's as uncomfortable as hell. And I've recently gone on the pill (J-ME's been baaad...shh...), so that's adding to the water retention. Am I too young (17 years old) for diuretics?

Posted by: JLB001

Yes you are.

Posted by: jaim91

So is there any solution to my problem?

Posted by: brodus

Yes, the pill contributes to bloating. It's the main reason my g/f was reluctant to go back on it. However, not using the pill and "being bad" contributes to bloating of another kind that's much more permanent!

The newest pill, Ortho-LO, has less bloating and side effects, BTW.

Definitely DON'T use diueretics, especially if you play endurance sports, etc. They're a temporary solution at best, and will probably make matters worse in the least. You need to stay hydrated.

A Coke isn't going to help you pee out bloating. And I don't think you need R-ALA+/K-R-ALA.

What exactly are you eating before bed that's causing the bloating?

Are you lactose intolerant at all? Some people find that protein shakes and the "bodybuilder diet" makes them bloat, later to find out it's actually lactose sensitivity.

Do you supplement with Fish Oil? Do you take anything with Soy Isoflavones in it? Are you on any other perscription drugs?

Just trying to pinpoint the cause here!

If you are talking about GI Bloating Cinammon will help.

If you are talking about water underneath the skin then I believe you are a train wreck waiting to happen. You haven't an ounce of fat on you.

JAIM, you need to seek profesionally help honey. IMO you have an issue, either an eating disorder or esteem issue which is going to kill you if ou dont get some assistance. Sorry to be cruel, but based on your pics and your words, you think you are too fat. That is f***ed up

Posted by: DemolitionNine

OMG Girl.

You're a walking stick! Seriously... E A T !!!!!!!!!!!

(not trying to be rude.. but goddamn!)

Posted by: jaim91

I know I'm a stick...I don't think I'm fat. I just retain water now that I'm eating a lot of carbs and on the pill...and needed a little help. that's all.

Posted by: Dale Mabry

Take a current pic so we can se what the deal is.

Posted by: jaim91

The pics won't show the bloating. I've decided to drink a whole lot of caffeinated beverages (coffee, dr. pepper, diet coke) to help pee it out...it's working.

Posted by: JLB001

You seriously have issues.

Jaim... try Tea and water before pop. Pop will just CAUSE more bloating.

It'll also pack on the pounds too.....

Steer clear of pop as if it were the black plague.

It's good for cleaning car batteries, and blood off the highway ONLY.

-Matt

Posted by: jaim91

Even diet pop is bad for you? I hate the taste of tea (unless it has a lot fo cream in it), and I drink about 3-4L of water, but that's what I feel is staying in me.

Posted by: SlimShady

Hey Jaim... you might want to go see a nutritionist and have them start you on a diet plan that will help you reach your goals. They can actually see you in real life, talk to you and listen to your probs. They aren't that expensive and it would be money well spent. They will set you straight on what you need to do and it will be healthy.

Posted by: jaim91

Last time I went to a nutritionist, she told me I have bad bacteria in my blood stream, and should stop eating everything except for kamut, spelt, veggies and fruit. I'm going to wait a little longer before my next visit. And I'm not going to drink oil...

Posted by: jaim91

The pics are up..in case anyone is interested...

Posted by: Curlingcadys

say it with me "buffet".......

Posted by: JLB001

I'm not meaning to be mean or ugly...But come on now...Bloating?? PLEASE!! You have no room to talk about bloat, etc....The only people that I know that are this thin have eatting disorders. You may eat...BUT do you ACTUALLY keep it down??? Do you purge? Alot of things you say don't add up, nor do your pictures......

http://www.ironmagazineforums.com/ga...cat/500/page/1

Posted by: jaim91

I don't purge. I stopped that kind of behaviour in grade 8.

Posted by: MTN WARRIOR

Well, your pictures pretty much verified IMHO that you are doing something that you arent saying, like purging or not eating or something. Your elbows and knee sockets are protuberant, you are way over skinny, grossly so, and yet you talk about continuing to drink caffeine products to "get rid of bloating". If you dont get help, you will not make it through this apparent illness young lady. This is not a joke, not a vanity issue, it is a mental issue brought on my some issue in your past. It does not make you more attractive if that is what you think. I would strongly advise you seek mental health counseling. No offense given.

Well, then you went to an insane nutritionist. You should seek out one that is better qualified and can help you with your problem. If you can't find one, try going to your doctor first and asking for a recommendation. Tell him you have a problem with your weight. He shouldn't have any trouble seeing that you've got a problem.

Posted by: JLB001

We need to stop posting in this thread....she is seeking attention and this only feeds it.

She needs more help than what we can offer and she is still in denial.

Posted by: jaim91

You have said that before, but I see a psychologist once a week, and not once have I ever been accused of this. You all think you know me, and that you're qualified to give opinions like that, but you're wrong. There is no illness, there hasn't been one for a while. Stop accusing me.

dear there has to be somthing, that is you in the pictures right? Those pictures are very comparable to pictures of starvation victims in third world countries, nobody has to "know you" to see that it is very VERY evident there is somthing wrong.

sorry JBL001
