Does anyone really want a piece of my Illinois flying fighting illini?

Posted by: I Are Baboon

Well I'm a UConn fan, but I would not mind seeing Illinois run the table.

Posted by: soxmuscle

I have never heard the Illini referred to as flying, but personally I don't really give a darn about Illinois. Boston College Eagles, thats all I have to say.

The Big East is a better overall conference than the ACC. Boston College is running with the big boys.

BC ain't gonna win the Big East conference championship, though. we all know who that belongs to.

You have got to be kidding. That is the most absurd thing I have read in a long time.

Flex you can't possibly be agreeing that the Big East is better than the ACC.

Take a look at the polls, power rankings and head2head record. Big East is nowhere near the strength of the ACC.

Posted by: Flex

Maybe not this year (yet), but over the last 5 years i'd say the Big East is better. Of couse every year there's always Duke and UNC, and Maryland, Tech and Wake are usually pretty good. But then it drops off to Clemson and the other shitty teams.

UConn and Cuse have won 3 Nat'l Championships in the last 5 years, BC, ND, St Johns (until they fucked up their program), and even Providence are solid year in and year out. When March Madness comes around every year, the Big East undoutabley has the most success (and this i know cuz i always pick them in my pools, and i always do well)

If I remember correctly, it was Boston College who came out on top in the Civic Center and not UConn.

There are many analysts who have that same opinion as myself. The Big East has alot of teams evenly matched in terms of talent which often times gets overlooked. On any given night in the Big East you can lose because everytime is good. In the ACC you have the toughies in UNC, Duke, Maryland, and Wake but then it drops off to Clemson, and Florida St.

The ACC at the top of the conference is better, but overall the Big East is a better conference.

no shit.

Of course games aren't won and lost on one play, but often they ARE decided on one play. that's at least the 3rd time i've seen Marcus blow a chance this year.

Posted by: njc

We got a tough one tonight at Mich ST. They are 94-6 in their last 100 home games!

i know

They have SO much talent, but they just can't seem to win. I guess their youth and inexperience is really too much to overcome. (not to mention Marcus consistently blowing games)

Posted by: njc

Everytime i say "tough game coming up" Illinois wins by at least 10.

ILL 81 M.State 68 /(22-0)(8-0)

There are no bad teams in the Big East. Boston College spanked Clemson.

I hope we can atleast both agree on the fact that the Big Ten sucks, and that Illinois will go undefeated because they play in a shit conference.

Kinda dumb, aint ya? Have u guys played a top 20 team all year?

Illinois is 8-0 against ranked teams including victories of 20 points over Wake Forest, 19 to Gonzaga, 21 to Cincinatti. We snapped the nations longest home court winning streak at Wisconsin at 38, we just beat Mich St. on their home court where they were 94-6 in there last 100 home games. Illinois has played a far tougher schedule than BC and would probably beat them by 10 on the road and by 20 at home.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Illinois is a good team, the Big Ten is a shit conference. As I said in my original post.

I couldnt care less for the conference. Im rooting for my team, not the conference. If someone asks me who I am a fan of in college basketball I dont say the Big 10 conference, I say Illinois. I was just refuting your garbage statement where you proposed that Illinois was gonna go undefeated becuase they played a weak schedule. In reality theres only one way you can be 20-0 and only be ranked number 5(BC), and thats to play a pathetic schedule. There is a reason Illinois has all 72 first place votes in the AP and all 32 in the USA/ESPN poll. Things might change in the future, but for the moment theres really no reason for you to continue to argue.

Forget it man. Arguing with soxmuscle against anything that is non-Boston is like pounding sand.

Illinois played some excellent teams out of conference, and they really showed me and everyone else alot, but when your playing the rest of the season against the bottom feeders that we call the Big Ten, its hard to say that there some unbelievable team. If you want to argue, argue away, because in the end all that matters to your tournament comittee is your RPI, and in that category Boston College is five spots ahead of Illinois.

Comparing conferences, the Big East is not much better than the Big 10 at all.

You Big East fans amuse me.

While you are there, check out how many Big East teams are rated WORSE that Clemson.

When talking about the how bad the bottom of the conference is, if you live in a glass house....

If you think that if Illinois wins the rest of there games that they wont get the number one overall seed youre mistaken. you are dead wrong in saying ALL that matters is RPI. What a joke.

Posted by: njc

Well ive just examined the RPI and have concluded that its a joke. But if you want to go ahead and believe that theyve discovered some mathmatical formula to determine which teams are better go ahead. We all know how theyve nailed it with the BCS. Illinois will get a number one seed regardless trust me. Unless they acrue a couple of losses before the season ends, which could happen but as of now, they get a 1 no doubt. So even if RPI did mean shit, ultimately it still wouldnt matter. They have Southern Illinois at number 16. Hilarious.

Obviously if they go undefeated they will be a number one seed, if the season ended today they'd deserve to be a number one seed. There is no need to state the obvious.

Stop the presses, hold your thoughts, ladies and gentleman. Poster njc has come to the conclusion that the RPI is a joke.

I'll stop reading after that second sentence.

Way to prove me wrong with your brilliant assesment of my post. Let me guess, you are the captain of your high school debate team?

Well now I'll check it out.. hey, what do you know? My first post agrees with you about Illinois being a number one seed. I'll be sure to acrue the entire post next time.

Boring.

If you agree with My statement of illinois being a number 1 seed then what the fuck was that,"the RPI is the only thing that matters", statement? What, in this case, is it going to matter then? The original argument was that you said Illinois could only go undefeated becuase of a weak schedule. Then we both agree that theyve beaten some impressive teams. Then you say,"well only the RPI matters". Matters to what? We agree they will get a number one seed. Your argument is loose and not understandable. I dont know what youre trying to convey. Your arguments contain nothing of any real substance but are chock full of schoolyard insults and fun poking that have nothing to do with the actual argument at hand.

You really should know what a word means before you use it or you risk looking like a moron. But that cats already out of the bag, so fuck it I guess.

Posted by: soxmuscle

Buddy, if the season were to end today, a team that hasn't lost would be a number one seed. It doesn't take brains, it is inevitable, and that is all I said. You are arguing about nothing. The RPI statement was only meant to say that Boston College is five spots ahead of Illinois in the RPI, thus the true poll that matters currently favors Boston College over Illinois.

Your arguing about nothing, and now your starting to bring personal attacks into this. If you want to continue, forget the bullshit, please.

Posted by: njc

Ok buddy.

Honestly, do you wanna know who the best team in the country is? UNC

your statement about the team w the higher RPI seed automatically getting the top seed if two teams were undefeated I just found out is innaccurate. Id never heard that myself but took your word for it. But you were wrong.

I never said the team with the higher RPI would automatically get the higher seed in the tournament.

Illinois almost blew it against shitty Michigan tonight.

I see that BC lost.

It is nearly impossible to run the table in a strong conference. BC deserves alot of credit for the run lasting as long as it did.

Well yeah they do, but dont they actually have by far the toughest part of the schedule coming up?

Posted by: Pepper

Nice win on the road by the Tar Heels today!

Two wins to 30-0 and a perfect regular season!

Watchem fukit up. Which side of the fence are you guys on? You one of those people who think that a loss before the tourney is a good thing?

Posted by: soxmuscle

It probably would be a good thing considering since they started there in conference play they've been playing middle school caliber basketball teams.

Yeah youre right. The Big East is ranked third toughest, while the Big 10 is fith. I mean shit dude, thats like comparing the NBA to the local YMCA.

But yeah, we probably could use alittle tuneup after torching all 6 top 25 opponents played by an average of 15 points.

28-0 is impressive no matter what conference youre in. Instead of trying to denounce what theyve done, maybe its time you recognize. Just becuase you dont like them and are jealous that BC cant beat a tough team on the road doesnt mean you cant give props.

Posted by: njc

Correction. The big east is now fourth, the big 10 fith.

Posted by: Eggs

29-0 now... pretty nice win against Purdue.

Pretty expected stuff, tonight didnt really have any surprises that I saw in college ball.

Posted by: njc

Yeah. Im not saying there going to, although they got just a good a shot as anyone, if they win the big 10 tourney and the big tourney were talkin 39-0!

I know odds are it wont happen, but how kick ass would that be?
