Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but.. When people say "they have (or, more often, are trying to get) a "6-pack", does this mean that their abs show only when they flex them or do the abs of a person with a 6-pack stick out at all times?

They probably just mean beer.

well, you would have to be shredded to show abs without even flexing, I would say most people just mean to get lean and abs show when flexing, but then again who the hell knows what people are talking about or what they actually mean.

I agree with Rob. Most people just mean while flexing, but if you can see them when not flexing, you are really lean.

On that subject, I have a friend from school....He's about the same heigh as me, maybe an inch taller, but he weighs 120lbs. He has a super fast metabolism and eats crap like McDonnalds burgers all the time, and he has a six pack without flex. And he never does any type of exercise... I'm not exactly jealous because he's incredibly skinny, but it's just kind of weird.

I don't think he ever will exercise/Bodybuild. When my other friends and I talk about it, he just replies that it's pointless unless it's for a sport or some type of job like a policeman, or military training... In reality I think he's just a lazy ass... I don't know though, maybe when it does catch up to him he might get some type of motivation.

Well he's on meds for depression and shit, so I don't really know. He's actually pretty energetic and a pretty funny guy, but that could partly be meds too...

I take medication for depression, anxiety, anger, and loads of other crap. I am also 6'2, and working toward 200 pounds pretty soon. Jumped from 150 to 190 in a little over 8 months. Side affects from meds, I doubt it. Suppliments and workouts are a big factor also. Point is, meds dont affect my will to train. The motivation for a bigger body, good health, and amazing strength keep me going... I could care less of the opinions of others, as long as im satisfied. (Although, I do want to compete in the Worlds Strongest Man contests one day ) As long as your friend picks up some weights, and wants to change his lifstyle, I see no reason why he cant be one big mofo

Oh, I agree if he has the motivation he could get big. When I talked about the meds I meant that his energy and his funniness might come from his meds, not his lack of motivation and skinniness. I'm not really trying to rat on him, I just starting by using him as an example of someone who has a visible six pack not flexed. He's pretty cool overall.
