When you personally do stiff leg deadlifts do you bring the weight all the way to the floor? I personnally wouldnt be able to bring it that low without injuring my hams... is this normal? bad form? if i keep my fett together and my knees locked i can touch my fingers to the floor... think i should work on my flexability?

I take the bar (using a platform) to half way between the knees and the ankles. I could prolly go lower but I don't want to push it lower back wise. Anyway, I get a nice hammy stretch.

What do you mean by knees locked?

Posted by: cider303

like just if i was reaching to stretch without a weight or anything... like after my workout i would stretch

are your knees 'locked out' as in dead straight or bent slightly?

bent slightly

if your nknees are locked out then your legs are straightends out as far as they can but this will cause damage to the cartlidge during work outs if you lock your knees out

So, your'e saying without weight you can stretch to the floor but with weight you can't? or are you saying that with weight it feels like your'e going to injure yourself?

with weight it feels like im going to injure myself... the difference when i stretch i arch my back... when i do sldl's i dont really bend with my back i try to keep it as straight as possible..i just bend at the hips... is this right? should i be arching my back down to the floor (like in an n shape) or should i be keeping my back as straight as possible?

didnt think so, i figured that brought out injury

Sounds like you do them correctly. Just ease into the weight starting light (what ever that is for you). Feel the stretch and build up the weight over the weeks. Only go down as far as is comfortable, maybe a fraction past, just like normal stretching. The reason you can't go down as far is because when your back is straight and your arse is sticking out your hammies are pre-stretched. That is, by tilting your hips back and up you are already stretching the muscles.
