When to recalc cals?

I've been on a cut plan for about 6 months, and have been running in the 10-13cal/lb range, though closer to 10. I was just wondering how often other people adjust their intake. Every week, month, 10 lbs, or other. Just curious.

Also, is there a good BF% to target before starting a bulking phase?

Once you stop see'ing results you need to change something. It doesn't always mean lowering your cals though...you could try switching your cardio, arranging your macro's differently, etc.

As for bf%, its all personal preference. theres no set rule as to when you should bulk or cut.

Yeah, what Dead said Personally I'd get to around 9-12% BF before bulking and then try to keep it below 15% while on a bulk. Just do it slower. I've done way too much of the yo-yoing up and down in extremes.

speaking of bf%'s... someone mentioned buying a set of good calipers somewhere online. Anyone have a link to a good, reasonably priced set for purchase? thx

Different people do it differently - some people adjust weekly (esp if they are only cutting for a short period, eg: competition), others will only adjust when they stop seeing results.

It also depends on the look you are aiming for, your current BF%, the calorie level and macro % of your diet and a multitude of other factors.

However, if you have been cutting non-stop for 6 months I would strongly recommend you do a few weeks of maintainence calories. Anything over about 12-16 weeks and you certainly want to increase your calories for a while to let your body physiologically 'recover' and allow your hormones such as 'spring back' to a higher/better level.
